THREE MEMBERS OF THE
ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND
RECEIVE GRAMMY NOMINATIONS FOR
“BEST BLUES ALBUM”
Members of the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND are excited for their unprecedented three Grammy nominations—in one category. GREGG ALLMAN, WARREN HAYNES and DEREK TRUCKS all received nominations for “Best Blues Album” for their respective 2011 solo projects. Here’s the full category listing:
Best Blues Album:
Low Country Blues — Gregg Allman
Man In Motion — Warren Haynes
Revelator — Tedeschi Trucks Band
The Reflection — Keb’ Mo’
Roadside Attractions — Marcia Ball
The group–GREGG ALLMAN (vocals and keyboards), BUTCH TRUCKS (drums and tympani), JAIMOE (drums), WARREN HAYNES (vocals, lead and slide guitar), DEREK TRUCKS (slide and lead guitar), OTEIL BURBRIDGE (bass) and MARC QUINONES (congas and percussion)–will wrap their 2011 touring schedule this Saturday night in Boston and will soon announce their March 2012 New York City shows.
Of their most recent show where they performed their iconic EAT A PEACH album from start to finish, Boston Herald writer Jed Gottlieb said DEREK TRUCKS and WARREN HAYNES are “the best one-two guitar punch in rock ‘n’ roll today. And they’re equal to the best ever (11/30/11).” The Patriot Ledger’s Jay Miller said, “The ‘Peach’ set opened with Gregg Allman singing, and one of his best vocals, on ‘Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More,’ as Derek Trucks stood nearby and made his slide guitar whine as if in support of Allman’s wistful words (12/1/11).”
Stay tuned for information on the March New York City shows as well as confirmed artists for the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND’s annual WANEE FESTIVAL set for April 20-21 in Live Oak, FL.
