DJ/producer and electronic dance music entrepreneur STEVE AOKI has partnered with cutting-edge social media platform Talenthouse to invite creative artists to be a part of his upcoming DEADMEAT Tour. Beginning today, Tuesday, December 20, AOKI is asking designers to redesign his official “beard” t-shirt (pictured above) by incorporating their own designs via a unique and custom widget which can be found at: http://on.fb.me/AokiTContest.
Starting January 25, 2012, fans can vote for their favorite design and AOKI will announce his top choice on February 15. The winning design will be included as part of his official merchandise and a limited edition of the T-shirt will be sold online via the Dim Mak store and on the DEADMEAT Tour site. Additionally, AOKI is set to wear the winning T-shirt design on a specific date of the tour and the winner will receive exposure with a feature on MagneticMag.com and a prize package including: a copy of WONDERLAND, STEVE AOKI’s new album set for release January 17 via New York-based Ultra Music in conjunction with his own label Dim Mak Records; VIP tickets to one of the tour dates; a meet and greet with AOKI; a pair of Sol Republic headphones; and Dim Mak merchandise and music.
The DEADMEAT Tour is in support of AOKI’s new studio album WONDERLAND. For it, he teamed with friends Travis Barker, LMFAO, Lovefoxxx of CSS and Lil Jon & Chiddy Bang, just to name a few. The album’s next single, “Ladi Dadi” featuring Wynter Gordon, is set for release January 24 as a package including remixes from Autoerotique, Angger Dimas and Tommy Trash with the official video for “Ladi Dadi” set to premiere January 10. WONDERLAND will be available as an iTunes pre-release exclusive for one-week starting January 10. The album’s first single, “Earthquakey People” featuring Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, is also available now featuring remixes by Andrew W.K., Dillon Francis, Alvin Risk and Loops of Fury.
DEADMEAT, presented by Dim Mak, is AOKI’s biggest tour yet, and for it he’s partnered with dubstep’s hottest new producer and Dim Mak label mate Datsik. Launching January 19 in Phoenix, the pair will travel across North America throughout winter 2012 and perform at some of the most renowned theaters and concert arenas, including the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, the Fillmore in Denver, Boston’s House of Blues, Montreal’s Metropolis and New York City’s legendary Roseland Ballroom (Los Angeles details are forthcoming). About Steve Aoki:
STEVE AOKI broke bands such as Bloc Party, The Bloody Beetroots, Klaxons and The Gossip through deftly marketed single and full-length releases on his Dim Mak label, which he began in 1996 and now has over 250 releases. Those releases often dovetailed into performances at his weekly Dim Mak nights including Dim Mak studios (still going strong every Tuesday night in the heart of Hollywood). As a label owner and shrewd curator of talent from around the world, those club nights have hosted the debut U.S. performances of hundreds of acts over the last decade from Lady Gaga to Ed Banger Records & Justice, Ke$ha, Skrillex, Kid Cudi, Kaiser Chiefs, No Age to Boys Noize. AOKI’s become a force of nature who has helped turn underground house, electro and harder-edged EDM with rap and rock leanings into the phenomena it is today: regularly pulling in 150,000+ fans at events such as Las Vegas’ Electric Daisy Carnival and the debut of the IDentity national electronic touring festival. AOKI’s punk roots go back to the art of the house party, when he was just a student at UCSB and was already booking bands such as The Rapture, !!!, Jimmy Eat World, Hot Water Music and At the Drive-In at his Pickle Patch bash and forging relationships with big names that would end up serving him well in the future (he met Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo at a secret show in college). Now, AOKI is readying the next stage of his incredible music career with his first proper full-length release with WONDERLAND, bringing a lifetime’s worth of passion for bands, DJs and artists of all stripes he has met and/or worked with over the past two decades to the forefront.
