THE VOODOO EXPERIENCE
PRESENTED BY STEPHEN REHAGE
RE-TEAMS WITH GULF RESTORATION NETWORK
TO RESTORE THE GULF
UPDATED FREE VOODOO iPHONE AND ANDROID APP
AVAILABLE NOW AT iTUNES
In just one week THE VOODOO EXPERIENCE PRESENTED BY STEPHEN REHAGE will once again take over New Orleans. In an effort to continue to raise awareness to the area both call home, this year’s VOODOO will again partner with the Gulf Restoration Network for a variety of onsite activities. At the same time, festival-goers can experience an enhanced multi-media adventure via the free updated VOODOO iPhone App, available now via the iTunes store.
For the past five years, VOODOO has teamed with the Gulf Restoration Network to raise awareness of their work to unite and empower people to protect and restore the natural resources of the Gulf region. Details re this year’s Restore the Gulf initiatives will be revealed at a Sunday, October 30 press conference with a variety of this year’s VOODOO performers. GRN’s work became even more critical last summer with the onset of the BP drilling disaster. This year at VOODOO, GRN is sending the message that oil is still in the Gulf, still affecting its coast and communities, and that action is still needed to restore the Gulf, defend Gulf communities and create a clean future. “We have had the privilege of working with the Gulf Restoration Network team for years at the VOODOO EXPERIENCE,” says Stephen Rehage, founder/producer VOODOO EXPERIENCE. “I believe in that time, we have done some important things together as it relates to awareness and fundraising for GRN. We are proud to continue to support their efforts to preserve and restore the regions’ wetlands.”
In an effort to make this year’s VOODOO a full multi-media experience, an updated version of 2011 VOODOO App (for iPhone and Android) has just been released. It features the latest schedule of performers; information and pictures of the various art installations displayed throughout the festival site; details about the newly added carnival rides; a detailed site map; a make your own schedule feature; GroupMe; a travel section; and a “Playing Now” feature. The app is 100% free at the iTunes store for iPhone (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/voodoo-experience/id335123801?mt=8) and for Android (https://market.android.com/details?id=musicfestival.voodoo2010&feature=search_result).

Once again, concert-goers will worship the music throughout VOODOO’s three unique performance areas: Le Plur, VOODOO’s dance space which celebrates an amazing list of electronic talent from around the world; Le Ritual where the main stage worships the music of the world’s most renowned artists; and Le Flambeau’s two performance spots (Preservation Hall Tent and the WWOZ Stage) which honor the roots and history of New Orleans music and its inspiration on others. Each of VOODOO’s individual performance areas is enhanced by the use of interactive art set amid City Park’s lush lagoons, bayous and one of the largest collections of mature oak trees in the world.
