“The ability for New Orleans artists to step onto any stage in the world and spontaneously combust into song or to play four or five gigs in the same night, are concepts unique to our local musicians,” says Stephen Rehage, founder/producer VOODOO EXPERIENCE. “This year at Voodoo, we focused on unique artist collaborations–things you can’t see anywhere else in the world–some announced, some still working themselves out, mostly ones done without any sort of rehearsal time. Concertgoers will see these mainly at the three stages within the Flambeau area of the festival. Each of these stages is curated by local artists and personalities, which I believe gives each a unique perspective. Ben Jaffe, Adam Shipley, Jeremy Smith, Rona, Maedgen and everyone involved really adds some extra hot sauce to the musical gumbo we call Voodoo.”
The full line-up with set times is as follows:
Once again, concert-goers will worship the music throughout VOODOO’s three unique performance areas: Le Plur, VOODOO’s dance space which celebrates an amazing list of electronic talent from around the world; Le Ritual where the main stage worships the music of the world’s most renowned artists; and Le Flambeau’s two performance spots (Preservation Hall Tent and the WWOZ Stage) which honor the roots and history of New Orleans music and its inspiration on others. Each of VOODOO’s individual performance areas is enhanced by the use of interactive art set amid City Park’s lush lagoons, bayous and one of the largest collections of mature oak trees in the world.
