ALANIS MORISSETTE ANNOUNCES

OVERSEAS  SUMMER CONCERT DATES

KICKING OFF JULY 5 IN BEIRUT;

SHE’LL ALSO BE SEEN JUNE 25 IN

HBO’S ACCLAIMED SERIES

“SEX AND THE CITY”

Before she begins work on a new album for release in 2001 on Maverick Recording Co., ALANIS MORISSETTE will take care of some unfinished business this summer.

Beginning July 5, the singer, songwriter and musician will perform in five countries she was unable to visit during her 14-month 1998-99 world tour.  This trek marks the first time ALANIS is taking the stage in Israel, Lebanon, Croatia and Turkey.  While overseas, ALANIS will reconnect with fans in various European countries, alternating headlining dates with festival shows.

Before launching the tour, ALANIS will make her first visit to Beijing, China.  She is set as a performer June 16 on the “MMH2000” yearly music award show.  A joint venture between MTV Asia and CCTV in China, the program will reach 750 million households in China alone, with additional exposure via MTV beams in Taiwan, Korea and Southeast Asia.

This round of performances, wrapping July 22 in Istanbul, follows the worldwide success of ALANIS’ recent SUPPOSED FORMER INFATUATION JUNKIE and MTV UNPLUGGED albums, which combined have sold 10 million copies and earned critical acclaim.

“I call this tour ‘my self-indulgent leg’…going to places that I’ve been and yearned to return to, or places that I’ve not been and have been drawn to,” says ALANIS.  “Performing songs that were inspired in or by the exact places we’ll be visiting is fulfilling and is an opportunity for me to give thanks.”

She adds:  “Touring deeper into cities around the world further confirms my love of communicating through art…how universal the language is.  It reinforces my belief that we are interconnected on a soul level, and I have found no better or more tangible an example of this than by visiting and playing in these cities in person.”

Meanwhile, ALANIS has a role opposite Sarah Jessica Parker in the upcoming “Boy, Girl, Boy, Girl” episode of HBO’s acclaimed series “Sex And The City,” airing Sunday, June 25.  ALANIS taped this in New York City, where she recently made her theatrical stage debut in "The Vagina Monologues" March 21 through April 2.  Her appearances in Eve Ensler’s play followed her big screen debut last year when she played the role of God in Kevin Smith’s film “Dogma.”

Recently, ALANIS had the opportunity to share the spotlight with Pope John Paul ll, Andrea Bocelli, Lou Reed and Eurythmics before an audience of over 300,000 youth in Rome Monday, May 1.  Billed as “The Great Jubilee Concert For A Debt-Free World,” the free outdoor concert was organized to bring attention to the world’s poorest nations and the need for social justice.  At the show, ALANIS and her band performed an acoustic set of “Baba,” “No Pressure Over Cappuccino,” “Ironic,” “That I Would Be Good,” “You Learn” and “Thank U.”
