BILLY IDOL TO RETURN TO THE ROAD JULY 20
FOR SIX-WEEK SUMMER TREK;
DATES FOLLOW RELEASE
OF GOLD-CERTIFIED 'GREATEST HITS'
AND 'VH1 STORYTELLERS' ALBUM
After last year's triumphant return, BILLY IDOL will head back out on the blue highway this summer to
rock audiences across America on a six-week trek launching July 20 in Las Vegas, NV. The tour comes on
the heels of the gold certification of his recent Greatest Hits album and the release of his VH1 Storytellers
CD, featuring rousing, mostly acoustic live performances of the respected and notorious artist's smash hits.
The new release features longtime guitarist/collaborator Steve Stevens, who will accompany IDOL on
tour.
VH1's Storytellers contains inspired renditions of material ranging from Generation X's "Ready Steady Go" and "Kiss Me Deadly" to "White Wedding," "Rebel Yell," "Blue Highway," "To Be A Lover" and "Cradle of Love."
In a review of last year's electrifying New York show, the New York Times said, "...he displayed his patented primal choreography, fists pumping, hips shaking, sneer intact. His music veered into slick rock and even toward smooth jazz, but Mr. Idol stayed rough-and-tumble...Mr. Idol's set succeeded in reasserting the quality that made him a star. Here was an artist who felt no need to own popular culture, instead happily inserting himself into its well-worn myths. Just call it good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll."
Adds VH1's Bill Flanagan in the liner notes to the STORYTELLERS album: "In the new century, he's the voice we didn't know we needed, until we heard it again. Billy Idol is a rocker, then and now and forever. One of the greats."
