ALANIS MORISSETTE
RETURNS TO THE ROAD OCTOBER 11
IN ADVANCE OF THE NOVEMBER 3 RELEASE OF
`SUPPOSED FORMER INFATUATION JUNKIE'

Alanis Morissette's new album SUPPOSED FORMER INFATUATION JUNKIE may not be released until November 3 on Maverick Recording Company, but she's decided to return to the road starting October 11. Consisting of 12 intimate venues in North America--most of which are clubs--this warm-up trek is the precursor to a full-scale tour by the singer and songwriter in early 1999.

Alanis will be visiting such cities as Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Detroit, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, Atlanta and Toronto. For the shows, Alanis will be joined by her band: Chris Chaney (bass) and Nick Lashley (guitar)--who were on the world tour in connection with her jagged little pill album--along with drummer Gary Novak (who joined Alanis for the Tibetan Freedom Concert) and guitarist Joel Shearer (who played on "Right Through You" from jagged little pill).

Alanis' set will include songs from SUPPOSED FORMER INFATUATION JUNKIE, which features "Sympathetic Character," "Baba," "Front Row" and "So Pure" as well as "Thank U," due to hit radio airwaves the third week of September, with a video to follow in October. For 13 of the album's songs,

Alanis wrote all the words and composed the music with her jagged little pill collaborator Glen Ballard, with whom she co-produced the album this time; four other songs were written solely by Alanis. SUPPOSED FORMER INFATUATION JUNKIE was recorded over the past few months in Los Angeles with her band, and she plays harmonica, flute and piano and sang all vocals (including backgrounds).

Alanis' upcoming gigs mark her first concert dates since her 18-month tour in 1995 and 1996. Beyond those dates, Alanis also performed at the Tibetan Freedom Concert in New York City in June 1997 and Neil Young's "Bridge School" benefit concert in San Francisco in October 1997.
