PRESENCE

ARE HAVING ‘TONZ OF FUN’

AS CURB RECORDS IS SET TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM

‘RISE’ MAY 20

Florida-based hard rock quartet PRESENCE are having “Tonz Of Fun” with their new song of the same name.  The debut single from the group’s first major release Rise has been embraced by radio programmers around the country, and was one of the most added records in its first three weeks at radio.  It’s also already one of the top 40 most played records at Active Rock radio.  RISE will hit streets May 20.

PRESENCE formed in the fall of 1996 and released two well-received independent albums: 1999’s Divine and When The Smoke Clears in 2001.  They toured relentlessly in Florida, garnering a fan base and local radio support that caught the attention of RockStar2K, an artist development company, which eventually led to the group signing with Curb Records.

The band--JAY SLIM (vocals), DAN FULMER (guitars, backing vocals), D.J. STANGE (bass, backing vocals) and NICK WELLS (drums)--blend modern hard rock and hip hop with an aggressive punch and melodic swirl.  The album was produced by Paul Ebersold (3 Doors Down, Sister Hazel), and also features very personal lyrics, particularly in songs like “One Final Breath” and “Remember,” which deal specifically with the death of close friends or family members.  Other tracks are more lighthearted, like “The New One” and “Soundcheck.”  “Tonz Of Fun” might be the most forthright and amusing of them all, though, as it’s an ode to affects of beer goggles and the consequences of alcohol-induced romance.  A sample lyric: “Lucky to have survived/She was twice my size…Maybe now I should quit my drinkin’/What was I thinkin’/Oh God/I’ve done it once again.”

The group, currently headlining club shows and performing at summer festivals throughout Florida, will head out on a national tour in conjunction with the May 20 release date.  They’ve also been invited to open for Godsmack at the KBPI radio festival at Red Rocks in Denver June 10.  Current tour dates are below.  For more info, check out www.presencemusic.net
