SKINNY PUPPY SET OFF ON SECOND LEG OF THEIR TOUR FOR

‘THE GREATER WRONG OF THE RIGHT’

This October celebrate the dark season with SKINNY PUPPY as they set off on the second leg of their national tour in support of their new album, THE GREATER WRONG OF THE RIGHT (SPV Records). Kicking off October 14 in San Diego, NIVEK OGRE (vocals), cEVIN KEY (electronics, percussion) and company will travel to more than 20 cities with their live show which will have fans old and new buzzing.

For THE GREATER WRONG OF THE RIGHT, SKINNY PUPPY teamed Mark Walk and Ken Marshall (Tool) to produce an album of traditional SKINNY PUPPY elements integrated into ten new tracks.  Supported by a new generation of likeminded musicians--including Tool’s Danny Carey and Wayne Static of Static-X--the album, with all its dark brilliance, builds impressively on the band’s history.

Upon its release on May 26 as their first album in over eight years, THE GREATER WRONG OF THE RIGHT, and the first leg of its support tour, garnered rave reviews in the press:

“…Greater Wrong suggests this Puppy is heading for a rewarding adulthood.”

-- Scott Schinder, Entertainment Weekly (June 11, 2004)

“The elder statesmen of industrial mayhem rise after an eight year slumber to rain hellfire on all the young upstarts.”

--Alexander Chow, SPIN (August 2004)

“Ogre took the stage wearing a costume that borrowed from Predator and ancient Egyptian mythology.  Custom visuals showed George Bush covered by a storm of swastikas and the music sounded as if it had been recorded tomorrow…Combining technology, theater and the intoxicating charisma of a true performer, SKINNY PUPPY staked their return as musical leaders.”

--Simon Rust Lamb, BPM (September 2004)

“At heart, Skinny Puppy has succeeded on several levels: creating a soundtrack reflecting the fractured world around the band and also an album that, like Skinny Puppy throughout its 21 years, confronts and challenges both old and new listeners.”

-- Norman Narvaja, Cleveland Scene (May 26, 2004)

Phoenix New Times (June 10, 2004)

“Their churning beats, riffled with celestial atmospherics and keyboard flourishes, pump the adrenaline…”

--Christina Titus, Billboard (June 12, 2004)

“Four years later comes the fantastic…new The Greater Wrong of the Right, which retains much of the band’s trademark menace--Ogre’s cryptic delivery and apocalyptic imagery; sinister synthscapes, samples, and guitars; aggressive electronic beats--yet favors melody over tormented noise.”

--Michael Alan Goldberg, Portland Mercury (June 11, 2004)

“Influential industrial godfathers Skinny Puppy make a great first impression on this return -- their first CD in eight years, and first since the death of Dwayne Goettel in 1995 -- with the thunderous statement of purpose ‘I’mmortal.’  It’s a monster noise bash, a storm of guitars, layers of creepy, electrotweaked vocals and the sum total of a warehouse full of assorted sci-fi audio-production machines.”

                                                                                                  --Jeff Vrabel, Chicago Sun-Times (June 13, 2004)

“As expected, the 10-track gloom-ride drives vigorously and furiously through distorted guitars, melodramatic synthesizers and Ogre’s powerful lyrics.  But this time around, the sound is more polished, refined, somewhat experimental and arranged with a sophisticated pop sensibility.”

--Sean O’Neal, Philadelphia City Paper (June 17, 2004)

“On its first full-length album in eight years, Skinny Puppy returns with tautly constructed songs that showcase the band’s ability to unite muscle with message.”

--Jeff Abbott, Orlando Sentinel (June 11, 2004)

**** (4 stars out of 5)

The Greater Wrong of the Right revisits previous Puppy strategies, but also experiments with such related styles as British garage-rap, notably on ‘Goneja.’  More shockingly, some of the songs are actually melodic: ‘EmpTe’ and especially ‘Past Present’ mix strident synths with stately keyboard lines and catchy chorales in the manner of mid-‘80s Depeche Mode.”

--Mark Jenkins, Washington Post (June 18, 2004)

“Longtime fans will be pleased to hear a recording that brings industrial music closer to its origins, before the schism between the techno-based electronic body music (EBM) and guitar-based industrial metal movements.  It’s a good album that vastly surpasses the fare that is peddled as industrial these days…”

--Bao Le-Huu, Orlando CityBeat (June 15, 2004)

“ SKINNY PUPPY were always able to exist below the mainstream radar—staying cool and relevant without ever having to compromise.  Tonight was no different, the second of two sold out shows in NYC, and it was clear that the world is ripe for bands like SKINNY PUPPY and the spewing venom of their sound will always have an audience with the disenchanted, affected and downright twisted.”

--Danny Wirtz, The Tripwire (June 22, 2004)
