“TRUE EXPERIENCE: THE KEYS”
MUSICAL PERFORMANCES AMIDST
A LUSH TROPICAL BACKDROP
PROVIDE INTIMATE EXPERIENCE FOR TRUE MUSIC FANS
Having took place August 17-19 at Hawk’s Cay Resort in Duck Key, Florida, this year’s TRUE EXPERIENCE: THE KEYS featured headliners 3 Doors Down. Additionally, Cowboy Mouth, JR Richards (Dishwalla), Michael Tolcher, Dan Dyer, Bain Mattox, Catchpenny, Damien Alvie, John Boutte, Kevin Hahn Band, Paul Sanchez (Cowboy Mouth), Peter Searcy and Sam & Ruby all performed and for the first time ever, the TRUE EXPERIENCE added a comedy element featuring stand-up from Steve Burr and Marianne Sierk.
“What can I say…we had a blast!” is how Brad Arnold, lead singer, 3 Doors Down described the weekend. “The resort was beautiful and the music was rockin'. The best part about the entire experience was being able to hang out with the fans in such an intimate atmosphere. There is usually so much separation in the music business between artists and fans, and this trip did a great job of breaking down the barrier…it let us connect with our fans in such a unique way.”
Beyond the standard sets which took place including daytime poolside performances overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, music fans throughout were treated to spontaneous jam sessions, pool-side serenades, beach-side sing-a-longs and a late-night, standing-room only impromptu comedy session. The weekend was highlighted by the “band camp” segment, where the musicians took willing participants through the process from setting up equipment through the recording and performance elements. The end result: a jam session featuring musicians and TRUE EXPERIENCE fans playing side-by-side on the event’s final night.
In a rare treat, as is the TRUE EXPERIENCE tradition, musical collaborations occurred throughout the weekend. In a show of solidarity for their native city of New Orleans, Cowboy Mouth invited hometown favorite John Boutte to join them at various performances and Nashville duo Sam and Ruby joined singer, songwriter Dan Dyer for his Saturday night show.
Throughout the weekend’s festivities, attendees competed for gifts courtesy of Absolut Vodka, including a chance to attend an even more intimate Absolut brunch in a private villa on site with musical performances from Kevin Hahn and Catchpenny.
“It’s great, you’re three feet away from the artists.”
“It’s like hanging out with new friends.”
“If you like music and an intimate experience, this is the place to be.”
“For anybody who’s a fan of music, this is the ultimate experience.”
“The location was unbelievable.”
TRUE EXPERIENCE’s John Millward described the weekend as “being created by the ultimate music fans. We don’t want people to just watch music, we want people to live it. We all come here and appreciate each other and that’s what TRUE EXPERIENCE is all about.”
Stay tuned for details about the next TRUE EXPERIENCE music weekend.
