AGENTS OF THE SUN:
BALTIMORE BAND SET TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM ‘AURORA’’
OCTOBER 7 ON DCIDE RECORDS
Having generated a loud industry buzz–including Top 10 Most Requested airplay at Washington’s DC101 (WWDC) and additional support from WRXL, KISS, WOSC and WIYY–AGENTS OF THE SUN now take their game nationwide with their powerful debut album AURORA. It’s due out October 7 on DCide Records, distributed nationally by ADA.
Produced by Mark Thorp, Steve Wright and Mike McAree, the album features 11 original songs that capture the AGENTS’ hard-hitting fusion of clean-to-crunch twin guitars, melodic bass lines, agile rhythms and harmonized vocals. The band–which has already shared stages with the likes of TRUSTCompany, Trapt, Smile Empty Soul, 3 Doors Down, CKY, Cold, Saliva, 3rd Eye Blind and Theory Of A Deadman–are currently in the midst of an East Coast summer club tour.
AURORA is comprised of the songs “Come Together (Killer),” “Agents,” “Wellness,” “Memorial,” “Fear of Heights,” “In My Arms,” “Make Slow,” “Sincerely Yours,” “Trap Door,” “Face It” and “Picture Perfect.” Of the album’s first single “Come Together (Killer),” frontman RAY DOBSON states: “We’ve all been in a relationship with the right person and had a bird’s-eye view watching ourselves act like fools to one another, but were unable to stop it. In the end, you know it will work out, so can we just hurry up?”
Juxtaposing compelling contemporary hooks with classic rock sensibilities,
AGENTS OF THE SUN showcase the expressive vocals of DOBSON along with the knife-edged guitars of JASON FUBLER and RALPH RODRIGUEZ, and the street-savvy rhythms of bassist FRANKIE HERNANDEZ and drummer DAVE DOBSON. The band’s intensely melodic songs are girded by the impressive vocal harmonies of RAY DOBSON, RODRIGUEZ and HERNANDEZ.
As one listen to AURORA will attest, RAY’s lyrics explore the complexities of personal relationships while bucking the defeatism currently prevalent in rock. In fact, DOBSON’s lyrics are unabashedly–some might even say defiantly–positive. “Make Slow” addresses a friend who needs to pull himself out of the problems he has created, while “Memorial” celebrates RAY’s and DAVE’s late grandmother. “Agents,” however, is a sincere thank-you to all whoever doubted each and every member of the band. “We’re like a wine stain on a white surface,” declares RAY. “You can’t make us leave, and we’re never going away.”
Adds JASON, smiling broadly: “none of us can back down from a challenge, so anybody who ever doubts us just makes us dig in even deeper.”
This positivism has thrust AGENTS OF THE SUN from obscurity to the brink of rock stardom. The band was formed in Baltimore, MD in 2002. Less than a month later, the five-piece band had composed a set’s worth of original material. Just weeks later, they secured a slot opening for TRUSTCompany, where indie label DCide first witnessed their compelling live show. Three and a half months after their first rehearsal, AGENTS were signed to DCide and recording AURORA.
