ART GARFUNKEL
GARNERS VAST PRAISE FOR NEW SOLO ALBUM
'SOME ENCHANTED EVENING';
TV APPEARANCES SET;
OVERSEAS TOUR TO BE FOLLOWED BY FULL U.S. SPRING TREK
LAUNCHING APRIL 7 IN PHILADELPHIA
In the spirit of classic recordings by Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and Chet Baker, ART GARFUNKEL's new album SOME ENCHANTED EVENING (ATCO Records) is a showcase for GARFUNKEL's luminous voice, as he puts his indelible mark on standards from the greatest American songwriters of the 20th century.
Already an icon for his unparalleled success with Simon & Garfunkel and his 12 solo albums, SOME ENCHANTED EVENING opens a new chapter for the singer as it reunites him with Richard Perry, who produced Art's platinum-selling 1975 album Breakaway (which featured the hit "I Only Have Eyes For You").
In conjunction with the album's launch, Art performed on A&E's "Breakfast With The Arts" and will be profiled by XM Radio on their "Artist Confidential" program (airdates TBA). These will be followed by a special appearance on BBC1's "Sunday AM With Andrew Marr" on February 18. Garfunkel will perform 15 dates in Europe beginning March 9 in England and is readying plans for a full U.S. spring tour which kicks off April 7 in Philadelphia, PA (complete itinerary TBA).

CRITICAL SOUNDBITES
"…an exquisitely sung and superbly produced album of standards…First and foremost is that Art Garfunkel's voice is in remarkable shape…The second reason is the presence of Richard Perry, the fabled producer who was behind Garfunkel's classic recording Breakaway. Together, the two collaborators turn back time; yet their approach to vintage songs is anything but retro. By finding just-right tempos and devising luscious vocal arrangements and subtle instrumental settings that bring additional luster to the timeless material, Garfunkel and Perry imbue this project with respect and affection…Together they've turned in an unexpected masterwork."
William Pearl, Barnes & Noble.com, 1/30/07
"…the tracks are…absolutely spectacular…totally reimagined, very innovative and beautiful versions of 'Some Enchanted Evening' and 'Someone To Watch Over Me.' Garfunkel's voice is more gorgeous than ever, a real musical instrument. And Perry-renowned for his sumptuous and unusual arrangements-is doing his best work maybe ever."
Roger Friedman, Foxnews.com 3/08/06
"This beautiful record may be the best of the new century's glut of second-generation visits to the Great American Songbook…Producer Richard Perry very gently changes the muted pastel shades from track to track, deploying impeccably tasteful short solos from trumpet, sax and harmonica. When a song might be inherently sentimental ('Someone To Watch Over Me'), Garfunkel eases off with a little Chet Baker-style cool. Adding a playful doo-wop riff to 'Let's Fall In Love,' Garfunkel seems to be saying 'it's all music,' and in this case, it's quite wonderful music."
Wayne Robins, Billboard 2/3/07
"Coupled with producer Richard Perry (Nilsson, Ringo, Barbra) for the first time since their 1975 collaboration, Breakaway, Some Enchanted Evening picks up where they left off as if a day hadn't passed. Garfunkel spreads his angelic voice…over…synthesized strings and sleek rhythm tracks."
Joel Selvin, San Francisco Chronicle, 2/4/07
