ATOMIC MUSIC GROUP
OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCES EXPANSION OF LOS ANGELES
AGENCY AND CONSULTING FIRM
Atomic Music Group–originally founded as Electric Artists by Scott Weiss in 1985–went on to become one of the largest independent talent agencies in the country. After merging with a number of agents in 1994, the company was renamed Atomic Music Group. In 1998, Atomic contracted to become a one-client company, representing only guitar legend and rockabilly icon Reverend Horton Heat. Now in 2011, the company is once again expanding, taking on agents Tom Hoppa, formerly of APA, and Melody King, formerly of The Agency Group. Also joining the firm is artist development and film/TV guru Andra Dalto.
The goal of the company is to have a well-balanced roster of legendary talent and emerging artists while providing services beyond the traditional artist/agent relationship. Corporate endorsements, tour sponsorships, multi-media cross marketing and social media interface are some of the benefits clients will experience.
Scott Weiss, President:
Weiss got his start in the music business as a professional tennis player. He continued to hone his agency skills as a breeder of thoroughbred race horses. From there, the next logical step was opening his own talent agency. Weiss was not available at press time for an actual comment on the company’s expansion. In fact, his actual whereabouts are not known but his clients continue to work so it's assumed he's alive and well somewhere.
Tom Hoppa, Vice President/Senior Agent:
In Tom’s career, he has worked as both talent buyer and agent lending his expertise at Clear Channel and House Of Blues and as agent at TKO and APA where he worked with legends Motorhead and Sepultura among many others. Tom brings current clients Jayke Orvis, Great Northern, The Head Cat, Helmet, Hed PE, Jimmy Nash, Living Things, and Unwritten Law with him to Atomic Music Group.
Melody King, Senior Agent:
Melody King is a music industry veteran, with over a decade of experience in the touring industry. Former agent for The Ataris and American Hi Fi, she has taken her talents to Beverly Hills and joined Atomic Music Group. Rumor has it, she is still a 6’ tall glamorous red head that no one can say “no“ to.
Andra Dalto, President of Artist Development:
With her recent success with client Hank III, Andra’s resume includes 12 years of music production at MTV Networks working on live shows such as the VMA’s, the Tibetan Freedom Concerts and both the last “Woodstocks.” Working with bands including The Rolling Stones, N'Sync, and the aforementioned Hank III, she posses a myriad of music industry experience and a Roledex to die for. Worldwide touring, social marketing and artist management are a few of her specialties while she continues to develop strategies for emerging artists including Jimmy Nash and Jayke Orvis.
