ON FIRST FULL-SCALE U.S. TOUR
IN SUPPORT OF THEIR
‘OUT OF EXILE’ ALBUM
WITH SPECIAL GUESTS SEETHER AND KASABIAN;
NEW SINGLE “DOESN’T REMIND ME”
ALREADY TOP 10
AUDIOSLAVE will launch their first full-scale North American tour September 25 in San Francisco, CA and visit major markets before concluding in late November in California (venues TBA) with special guests Seether and Kasabian. This trek by the multi-platinum, critically acclaimed band–known for CHRIS CORNELL’s stirring vocals, TOM MORELLO’s innovative guitar and the razor-sharp rhythm section of bassist TIM COMMERFORD and drummer BRAD WILK–comes on the heels of some extraordinary moments this year for them: a precedent-setting, historic outdoor performance in Cuba and an electrifying Live 8 appearance at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate as part of their triumphant European tour.
Along the way, fans can expect to hear songs from both of AUDIOSLAVE’s albums–the current OUT OF EXILE (Interscope/Epic), which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart, and the band’s self-titled five million-selling debut–along with selections from the group’s previous bands (Rage Against The Machine and Soundgarden).
OUT OF EXILE’s “Doesn’t Remind Me” is already a top 10 single at Active and Alternative radio (OUT OF EXILE’s lead single “Be Yourself” reached #1 on the Rock and Alternative radio charts, where it sat for four consecutive weeks). Critics have cited the subtly poignant “Doesn’t Remind Me” as one of the album’s pivotal tracks:
“‘Doesn’t Remind Me’ is sunny and sweet before imploding in a fireball of broken promises and Rage’s signature violent squall.”
–Josh Eels, BLENDER, June 2005
“This starts with acoustic strums before breaking into electrics. Melodically, Cornell lays right over the top of these changes, singing a haunting line about, ‘The things that I’ve loved/The things that “I’ve lost.’ This song suggests that Audioslave really are the very best of RATM and Soundgarden: savvy rockers working out on some great songs.”
–Steven Rosen, Total Guitar, June 2005
“The most immediately memorable song, though, is a folk-rock strummer, ‘Doesn’t Remind Me’ that may even hold a distant glint of humor.”
–Jon Pareles, New York Times, June 12, 2005
“ ‘Doesn’t Remind Me’ is a deceptively pleasant litany of things singer/lyricist Chris Cornell enjoys, like ‘hammering nails and speaking in tongues’ because they hold no painful memories.”
–CLT, Billboard, June 4, 2005
“Audioslave also breaks away from its clamorous comfort zone with the bouncy acoustic arrangement of ‘Doesn’t Remind Me’ as Cornell taps a lighter vocal touch.”
–Richard Cromelin, LA Times, June 5, 2005
“Of the three new tunes, ‘Doesn’t Remind Me’ impressed most with its quieter more melodic pop verses, the liquid beat of Morello’s fingering and Wilk and Commerford’s complementary stomp.”
–Sarah Rodman, Boston Herald, April 30, 2005 (live review)
