BACKSTREET BOYS
MAKE DONATIONS FROM TICKET SALES
OF LAST NIGHT'S PERFORMANCE AT
THE AIR CANADA CENTRE
IN TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA
But before launching into their performance Wednesday at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, BACKSTREET BOYS took a few minutes to acknowledge the tragic events that occurred Tuesday in New York and Washington, DC.
The group–NICK CARTER, HOWIE DOROUGH, BRIAN LITTRELL, AJ McLEAN and KEVIN RICHARDSON–let the fans on hand know that $1 (U.S.) from each ticket sold for that night's performance would go to the Clear Channel relief fund, which will be making donations to the American Red Cross and other organizations. (Clear Channel is the tour promoter for BSB's "Black & Blue World Tour 2001.")
The nation's tragedy hit the BACKSTREET BOYS close to home when they learned that Danny Lee, a member of the Backstreet Boys touring family, was on board American Airlines flight 11. Lee–who served as a set carpenter on the group's current trek–was returning to Los Angeles after BACKSTREET BOYS' Boston performances for the birth of his second child.
