BACKSTREET BOYS USHER IN THE NEW `MILLENNIUM'
BY MAKING HISTORY
WITH THE RELEASE OF "I WANT IT THAT WAY"
BACKSTREET BOYS have made history with the April 12 release of "I Want It That Way," the first single from their forthcoming MILLENNIUM (Jive) album, due out May 18.
In its first day at radio, the song generated 164 adds in the CHR (Top 40) and Rhythm Crossover formats, according to the record trade publication Radio & Records. This sets a new record for the trade, far surpassing Jewel, the previous record holder whose song "Hands" received 124 adds its first day at radio.
"I Want It That Way" also set a record at the Friday Morning Quarterback record trade publication by generating 167 adds in the CHR/Pop and Rhythmic formats the first day.
In further BACKSTREET BOYS news, the group are currently on a promo tour in Europe and are gearing up to launch the album in the U.S. in their own special way. Stay tuned for details.
