As BEAT UNION prepare to release their U.S. debut DISCONNECTED April 22 via indie Science, the Birmingham, England-based group have announced that beginning today they’ll stream DISCONNECTED in its entirety for fans all week on http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=313370. Already boasting a strong U.K. following, their song "She Is The Gun" fired-up to #5 on the BBC Radio 1 Chart that prompted lead vocalist/guitarist for Goldfinger and top producer John Feldmann (The Used, Lostprophets, Story of the Year, Veronicas, Good Charlotte) to team up with the band for DISCONNECTED. The result is a seamless yet diverse and potent eleven-track debut that celebrates the past as it looks to the future with serious intent.
This past weekend in Los Angeles, the U.K. group shot a video for their new single, the beat-driven guitar opus “Pressure Zone,” hailed by the New York Post as “a new wave jam with old-school punk.” The video for the track was shot in high definition black and white and features the band playing on a rooftop overlooking the skyline of downtown Los Angeles. Directed by Daniel Chesnut (Greeley Estates, Beat Union) and partnered with Hurley Entertainment (Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, Misery Signals), the performance will be cut with clips of the band walking amongst the hustle of individuals going about their everyday lives. These images convey the desperation of the working man that’s exemplified in the lyrics for “Pressure Zone”:
“You’re working for the man now, you’re working day and night./You left school with such high hopes; they said your future looked so bright. University is over./The weekdays are a coma./And then you can’t stay sober./There must be more to life. It’s hard to breathe./Another loan on your own./It’s a machine: The Pressure Zone, Pressure Zone. Wheels keep on turning./You owe more than you’re earning./But money keeps on burning./Your dreams go up in flames. Don’t say you’re ready to explode./I know you’re in the Pressure Zone./You know you’re not alone.”
In touring news, BEAT UNION will hit the road this week for a quick West Coast trek with Goldfinger; then it’s back to the U.K. for The Great Escape Festival; a series of dates with State Radio including a hometown gig at Birmingham’s Barfly; plus the Dot To Dot Festival and Nass Fest. Next, they return to the states in June for the Vans Warped Tour where the group is poised to make an impact as the breakout U.K. act this summer. BEAT UNION has also been confirmed for Japan's Summer Sonic Festival on August 9 and 10. Expect more news soon from BEAT UNION who’ve shared the stage with Hit The Lights, Taking Back Sunday, Goldfinger and Alexisonfire, among others.
