The Beatles themselves were influenced by American artists such as Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Elvis Presley, and BEATLES REIMAGINED returns their music to the heartland that inspired them: the United States. On BEATLES REIMAGINED, hotly tipped U.S. indie artists re-envision the songs on their own terms: alternative folk (Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros), acoustic folk (The Well Pennies), indie-rock (Mobley), indie-pop (Jhameel), new-rock (Badwolf), new-wave (Adventure Galley) and electro-dance-pop (Night Panther) through downtempo/lo fi (Feverbody) and old school soul (Doom & Gloom) and retro-pop (Leftover Cuties).

“This tingling disco-fication of the Fab Four fave is a high point of the covers collection Beatles Reimagined.”
–Brian Mansfield, USA TODAY re “I Wanna Be Your Man,” Night Panther (11/19/13)
“…an album of Beatles songs as reinterpreted by current musicians. The [Beatles Reimagined] album, which comes out October 1st on Community Music’s Community Projects label, includes covers of early Beatles songs including ‘She Loves You’ and ‘All My Loving’ by indie bands such as Badwolf and the Well Pennies. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, the most well-known band featured on the album, recorded a rockin’ country version of the classic ‘I Saw Her Standing There.’ …That sense of fun, breezy easiness comes across in the band’s cover, with the familiar lyrics bouncing over swingy strings and effortless harmonies.”
–Emma Greenberg, ROLLING STONE (9/30/2013)
“Boston folk-pop duo [The Well Pennies] tweaks a familiar melody, adds strings, for a new Beatles Reimagined set, with delightful results.”
–Brian Mansfield, USA TODAY (10/8/2013)
“[On Beatles Reimagined] Sharpe and company reinvent ‘I Saw Her Standing There.’”
–Kevin Wierzbicki, CAMPUS CIRCLE, (10/9/13)
“What happens when you take the songs of arguably the most influential band in rock’n’roll history, and pass them along to the coolest musicians playing right now? Welcome to Beatles Reimagined, a 10-song album of Beatles covers by everyone from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros to Mobley. The collection, which was put out this week by Community Music’s Community Project label, is as diverse as the music of the Fab Four; it ranges from an acoustic-folk version of ‘All My Loving’ to an all-out dance party-fied ‘I Wanna Be Your Man.’ The timing couldn’t be better–besides the fact that it’s been exactly 50 years since the start of Beatlemania, there’s the little problem that more and more young people (read: us) don’t actually know the British foursome’s music.”
–Rebecca Davis, NYLON (10/13)
“Night Panther rework the Beatles’ ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’ into a sleek disco-funk groove.”
— John Vettese, XPN Philadelphia (single review, 10/13)
“[Beatles Reimagined] features imaginative reworkings of Fab Four classics, from Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros doing their jangly Godspell thing with ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ to a delicate folk take on ‘All My Loving’ by The Well Pennies, to Philadelphia’s own Night Panther turning ‘I Wanna Be Your Man.’ By setting the chords and lyrics to sleek beats and disco-funk instrumentation, the Panther crew not only show off their own skill as interpreters, but also the versatility of the Beatles songwriting.
— John Vettese, XPN Philadelphia (album review, 10/13)
“Each song is different from one another and even more different from the original versions, but it is incredible to listen to the way these bands have morphed the classic Beatles’ songs into songs of their own. There is something interesting about listening to The Beatles with electronic samples and heavy beats like on ‘Misery’ by Feverbody, ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’ by Night Panther, or ‘Please Please Me’ by Adventure Galley. The album is a delightful reinvention of songs that were recorded over fifty years ago. Each song is at the same time an homage to the original and a new creation that could be released today. The great efforts to create an album that will bring the music of The Beatles to the present resulted in a new bar for Beatles covers and a remarkable album Beatles Reimagined.”
–James Sheplock, WQHS Pennsylvania Radio (10/13)
“Inspired by the spontaneous feel of a concert they caught in Nashville, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros decided to record this no-frills, straightforward cover of ‘I Saw Her Standing There.’ It sounds awesome, thanks in particular to a little added Americana twang.”
—PRETTY MUCH AMAZING (10/13)
“Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes have been giving the very rare opportunity to officially cover ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ from the Beatles as part of the new special 50th Anniversary celebration of the iconic band. The group gives the classic rock / folk a breath of fresh air really making it their own while somehow delivering it in a carefree manner that they do so well.”
–Nick Guarino, THIS SONG IS SICK (music blog, 10/13)
“Cool project that is taking something that never gets old…Beatles covers. Adding some fresh new talent Community Music has released Beatles Reimagined, a 12 track electronic indie-pop homage to arguably some of the greatest songwriters ever.”
–Josh Stewart, NEW DUST.COM (Washington, D.C. blog, 10/13)
“There are about a million albums that honor the Beatles out there, but none with this kind of impact across more music genres than Beatles Reimagined. It features modern up-and-coming artists who span from soul to dance music, who give their own flare and liberties with each track. There is no doubt, EDM fans or not, that there is a track there that will free your senses and fill your imagination. The album is sure to make Beatles fans appreciative and maybe open others to different genres.”

About BEATLES REIMAGINED:
In 2012, The Adage Group partnered with Round Hill music and purchased the North American publishing rights to songs from the Beatles 1963 breakout hits “I Saw Her Standing There,” “She Loves You,” “From Me To You,” “Misery,” “There’s A Place” and “I Wanna Be Your Man.” Adage CEO Herb Jordan and legendary music business entrepreneur Owen Husney of Zoom-Muzic executive produced BEATLES REIMAGINED and assembled a twenty-something production team including Tim Anderson (ImaRobot, Solange) and Kevin Carvel (Atlantic Records, A&M/Octone, NBC’s “The Voice”). They recorded BEATLES REIMAGINED with the rules that each artist had to be indie, none of the artists could be born in the era of the Beatles, none of the recordings could sound like a Beatles cover and all of the songs are from 1963-1964, the breakout period for the Beatles. “There’s nothing left for the Beatles, but to be relevant to today’s music,” explains Herb Jordan. “Beatles Reimagined is a compelling artist discovery project whose mission is to reinvigorate the timeless writing of Lennon and McCartney through the eyes of today’s most creative independent artists, not through the filter of 1963.” Expect to hear these songs in multiple avenues as HBO’s “True Blood.” Released (October 1) via Community Projects 100% of the label’s net album sales from BEATLES REIMAGINED will be donated to the Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls Los Angeles (www.rockcampforgirlsla.org). BEATLES REIMAGINED honors the greatest modern songwriters of all time while infusing their music with a distinctly 21st century twist.
