BEN TAYLOR TO RETURN TO THE ROAD
IN SUPPORT OF HIS
‘ANOTHER RUN AROUND THE SUN’ ALBUM;
CROSS-COUNTRY TOUR WITH TRISTAN PRETTYMAN
SET TO KICK OFF FEBRUARY 3RD IN LOS ANGELES
Since the fall 2005 release of his ANOTHER RUN AROUND THE SUN (Iris Records) singer, songwriter BEN TAYLOR has spent months on the road playing the songs live for fans across the country. Next month, BEN will return to the road for another run of dates with Virgin Records’ Tristan Prettyman.
For this month and a half-long run of performances–kicking off Friday, February 3 at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles and visiting such cities as New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville, among others–BEN will perform material from 2005’s ANOTHER RUN AROUND THE SUN and his FAMOUS AMONG THE BARNS debut, along with debuting some new material.
Of the new material, BEN says “A lot of these songs have just been waiting for a proper tour since we finished the album. It will be nice to finally get them out of the studio and into the real world.”
This tour follows BEN’s 2005 outings in support of ANOTHER RUN AROUND THE SUN. He first hit the road in October with Tracy Chapman and then followed those dates with a series of critically-acclaimed performances with his mother and sister (Carly Simon and Sally Taylor). He has recently performed on ABC-TV’s “Good Morning America” and the CBS “Early Show.”
Here’s some critical feedback on ANOTHER RUN AROUND THE SUN:
" Taylor has a fluid voice undrawn to the dramatic and fancy; like his songs it's composed and collected…offers a melodic lucidity only the best singer-songwriters achieve. At 27, Taylor is already one of those."
–James Hunter, BLENDER, October (four-star review)
“He is a supremely melodic acoustic guitarist who really does justice to his lineage. Fans of many ages will appreciate the depth of this music."
–Steve Morse, BOSTON GLOBE, 9/9/05
“The vocals and production are spot-on…”
–Geoffrey Himes, THE WASHINGTON POST, 10/14/05
"Unconventional, near-suitelike song structures and subtle shifts of timing set his melodic, folkie-soft music above hackneyed singer-songwriter fare."
–Christopher John Treacy, BOSTON HERALD, 9/11/05
"On his second full-length CD, Ben Taylor improves upon his band-oriented debut by strengthening his hooks on these acoustic-based, singer-songwriter songs."
–Howard Cohen, MIAMI HERALD, 9/9/05
