Tune in tomorrow, Wednesday, February 26 to watch the multi-GRAMMY-nominated, award-winning American singer-songwriter-musician and actor BILLY RAY CYRUS and the GRAMMY-winning legendary vocalist Dionne Warwick perform the new duet “Hope Is Just Ahead” live tomorrow (February 26) on CBS TV’s “The Talk.” For more information, check listings here: http://www.cbs.com/shows/the_talk.
Written by BILLY RAY CYRUS, “Hope Is Just Ahead”—the uplifting new single featuring Dionne Warwick–has jumped to #60 with a bullet and is most-added on the A/C Chart in its second week at radio. Recorded at Jamie Foxx’s studio in Los Angeles, a portion of the proceeds from “Hope Is Just Ahead” will go to “Do The Write Thing-National Campaign to Stop Violence.” The organization helps create awareness to students on the ground level and prevent violent behavior in schools before it escalates (http://www.dtwt.org/about-dtwt).
“I initially started writing ‘Hope Is Just Ahead’ the day after the Columbine shootings with Don Von Tress,” explains CYRUS. “I feel like ‘Hope Is Just Ahead’ has now found its purpose. ‘Do The Write Thing’ is one of the few ideas I have seen in front of us as a society in America that can actually make an immediate and positive impact, a real difference in stopping violence in schools before it happens. If this concept can save one life, if the thought of early detection means one less Sandy Hook, VA Tech or movie theater massacre, then it needs our support. CYRUS adds, “Edmund Burke said, ‘The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,’ so let’s no longer just stand back and say ‘I saw this coming, but did nothing.’ We have to try something, standing here debating and procrastinating, just ain’t working.”
Meanwhile, BILLY RAY CYRUS has entered two completely different charts this week with the raucous remake “Achy Breaky Heart Pt. 2,” featuring hip hop artist Buck 22. ““Achy Breaky Heart Pt. 2” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 80 and has hit No. 11 on Hot Rap Songs. CYRUS’ originally topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 1992, 2014 marks the 22nd anniversary of the release of the original song. “Achy Breaky Pt. 2” also debuted at No. 16 on the Streaming Songs chart according to Neilsen/BDS. The YouTube video for “Achy Breaky Pt. 2” has received over 8 million views since February 11th.

NPR noted of his memoir Hillbilly Heart “There’s something very refreshing about Billy Ray Cyrus’ new memoir Hillbilly Heart. It’s not just that he’s candid about being, at many points throughout his life, a headstrong jerk, or, as he puts it, a ‘heathen,’ an imperfect man.”–John Rabe. With the release of “Hope Is Just Ahead” a duet with the legendary singer Dionne Warwick and multiple singles as well as a new album planned for mid-year, Billy shows no signs of slowing down in 2014.
