CLOVERDALE MUSIC LAUNCHES
WITH NEW RELEASES FROM
JIMMY NASH, HELLBOUND GLORY AND BRIAN McKENZIE
Newly-formed Los Angeles-based record label and management company CLOVERDALE MUSIC is excited to announce the release of its first three projects: JIMMY NASH, HELLBOUND GLORY and BRIAN McKENZIE.
The label was found by longtime industry executive ANDRA DALTO, who has worked extensively in artist management and development. She managed Hank Williams III for the last several years and has worked in TV production with MTV Networks on live shows such as the VMA’s, the Tibetan Freedom Concerts and both the last “Woodstocks.” Via her work with bands including The Rolling Stones, N’Sync, and the aforementioned Hank III, Dalto’s specialties encompass worldwide touring, social marketing and artist management.
The label’s initial releases include an EP from JIMMY NASH and BRIAN McKENZIE’s RESOLUTION album, both out now (released 11/15) and available in stores and via the www.cloverdalemusic.com site. NASH has also released via iTunes a Christmas song featuring guitarist and producer Todd Hannigan (Jack Johnson), “First Christmas In Love,” and a video was shot last week in Hawaii. Check it out here: www.youtube.com/jimmynashvideos. The latest CD from HELLBOUND GLORY, DAMAGED GOODS, is available now. CLOVERDALE MUSIC will also release a new project from JAYKE ORVIS (date TBA).
The label’s musical focus will center around alt Americana and grassroots singer/songwriters. “I want to release music that I personally feel strong about,” says ANDRA DALTO. “All of these artists mean a lot to me, and I’m bringing that passion to every aspect of Cloverdale Music.”
About HELLBOUND GLORY:
As their name alludes, Hellbound Glory is well on their way to proving they are a force to be reckoned with in country music. Fusing superior songwriting and hard-living characters with a hard-edged country honky tonk sound, the group is known for its instrumental dexterity, while vivacious frontman Leroy and his compadres are also notorious for their down-home, good-old-boy attitude. This type of attitude and songwriting chops, to back it up, have won over fans far and wide. Throughout the mid 2000’s, Hellbound Glory began defining their indie Americana sound, before that was even a genre. The new album “Damaged Goods” is set to change all that. Hellbound Glory knew there was an audience for Real Country and they stuck to their guns writing and recording songs full of grit, character and about problems facing rural America. They have over the last 4 years performed across the country in large music venues and local honky-tonks alike. They’ve shared the stage with musical legends like David Allan Coe, Reverend Horton Heat, Drive-By-Truckers, The Blasters, Hank III, Nashville Pussy, Junior Brown, Dale Watson, Wayne Hancock, Jesse Dayton, Eddie Spaghetti (of the Supersuckers), Lee Rocker (Stray Cats), Lemmy Kilmeister (Motorhead) and many others.
About JIMMY NASH:
Jimmy Nash–who grew up sleeping on the floors of recording studios where his gospel-singer parents were working–never thought he would grow up to follow in his family’s footsteps. All he knew at that time was that making records took too long and was way too boring. Well, he grew up to find himself in Brotheryn Studios with producer Todd Hannigan (Jack Johnson) recording his own songs. Not so boring anymore! A singer/songwriter who is breaking new ground in the world of acoustic pop, the Houston native bounced around Nashville for his formative years, sang all around the great state of Texas, then made his way to California to find his true musical calling. In addition to singing, he also plays guitar, ukulele and piano as well as writes every song with his musical partner, mother Kim Nash. He started playing the guitar at the age of five and made his debut at 10 years old to a staggering crowd of 50 in Macon, Mississippi. Learning songwriting and showmanship with his parents–who have penned hit songs for a slew of Nashville elite–he was thrown into the ring of the music industry, performing with them around the country for churches and conventions for crowds even in the tens of thousands.
Originally raised on gospel music, Nash soon became entranced by the sounds of top 40. Musical influences in every style are what he heard around his house growing up. A myriad of sounds ranging from the Bee Gees to the Beatles, as well as the old standbys like George Jones and Frank Sinatra, then mixed in with anything from the Eagles to Johnny Cash. Soon Jimmy got a listen to this beautiful, soulful sound coming out of the promised land–California.
About BRIAN McKENZIE:
Brian officially started his music career in the early 90s as lead guitarist, songwriter, and founder of the alt/metal band “Kilgore (Smudge)”, who were soon signed to Giant records (a subsidiary of Time Warner). He toured the country with the band, “lived off ham and cheese sandwiches, begged people to crash on their floors…until eventually upgrading to the Motel 6.” He was 19 at the time; too young to even be allowed anywhere near the bar of most of the clubs. During the down time on the road, he began to become a fan of the singer/songwriter scene. “It was me, four bandmates, a soundman and all of our equipment, packed like damned sardines in a cargo van with no trailer, so we all got lost in the music on our headphones to mentally escape for a while. I started listening to artists like Glen Phillips and the material he wrote with Toad the Wet Sprocket. I really loved the way they worked the melodies and the harmonies, and the how the acoustic, not heavy guitar riffs, really drove the music. That got me thinking, and writing.”
Brian released his first solo CD Days Like These locally in 2003 and in 2004 moved to Nashville. “The amount of talent there was incredible. I met, performed with, and co-wrote with some great singer/songwriters during my time there.” In 2006, he moved back to Rhode Island and released the project …and Always September. He began work on Resolution in 2009.
