COLD JOIN EVANESCENCE FOR
‘NINTENDO FUSION TOUR’ AUGUST 4 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 16;
AS “STUPID GIRL” INTENSIFIES AT RADIO
After a brief break from their non-stop touring schedule in support of their YEAR OF THE SPIDER album (Flip/Geffen)–which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart–COLD will join Evanescence on the road for the Nintendo Fusion Tour, which launches August 4 at Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Prior to joining the tour, COLD is performing one-off headlining dates as well as alternating shows supporting Linkin Park and Deftones.
While on tour, COLD’s set list includes their current Top 10 Modern and Top 5 Mainstream Rock hit “Stupid Girl.” As the single continues to impact radio, the “Stupid Girl” video–directed by Marc Webb (Puddle Of Mudd, Green Day, Good Charlotte)–is spinning at MTV, MTV2 and Fuse TV (formerly MuchMusic USA). The band’s television presence was recently intensified with performances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (Monday, June 16) and Jimmy Kimmel Live (Tuesday, May 13).
Meanwhile, COLD–SCOOTER WARD (vocals), KELLY HAYES (guitar), JEREMY MARSHALL (bass), TERRY BALSAMO (guitar) and SAM McCANDLESS (drums)–continue to receive accolades from the media for YEAR OF THE SPIDER. Here are some recent critical quotes:
“…the aggressive misery gains intensity with the startling candor of singer Scooter Ward…the players build an evocative and moody patchwork of sound to contain Ward’s emotional turmoil…”
–Edna Gundersen, USA Today, May 27, 2003
“…Year of the Spider finds Cold…merging contemporary hard-rock with the kind of incandescent, atmospheric guitar-pop propagated by the Cure and Love and Rockets in the ’80s.”
–Rick Reger, Chicago Tribune, May 23, 2003
“…(they) take their brooding rock very seriously, and on Spider the Floridians finally seem to be delving as deep sonically.”
–Lina Lecaro, Los Angeles Times, May 25, 2003
“…the band performs with such brute force that every song becomes a trigger for refreshing catharsis. Factor in a bevy of sticky, radio-ready hooks, and you have an album that is likely to be one of the summer’s top hard-rock releases.”
–Larry Flick, Billboard, May 31, 2003
