CONNOLLY’S A “HERO”: THEORY OF A DEADMAN’S TYLER CONNELLY RECEIVES “BEST VIDEO FROM A FILM” AWARD AT MTV VMAs
Excitement continues to build for THEORY OF A DEADMAN as the release date of their self-titled debut CD grows near. The album, to be released September 17, is the first from Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger’s 604 Records via Roadrunner Records. THEORY frontman/guitarist TYLER CONNELLY was on-hand at the MTV Video Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall as the multi-format hit “Hero” received the award for “Best Video From A Film.” TYLER played guitar on the Kroeger-penned song, which was culled from the Spider-Man film and soundtrack. “Hero” won out over fellow nominees Nelly, Will Smith, and Ludacris featuring Nate Dogg.
“We were ecstatic and didn’t expect to win,” CONNELLY said. Highlights of the night for him included the Guns Ôn Roses performance, meeting David Lee Roth and Michael Jackson’s surprise appearance.
Meanwhile, the band’s own single “Nothing Could Come Between Us” continues to rock up the Active Rock, Rock and Modern Rock charts at both Billboard Monitor and Radio & Records. Key adds this week include Sacramento, CA (KWOD) and Portland, OR (KUFO). The music video for the song, directed by Glen Bennett (Drowning Pool’s “Bodies”), is receiving spins on MTV2 and MuchMusic USA.
In other news, THEORY OF A DEADMAN—CONNOLLY (vocals/guitar), DAVE BRENNER (guitars), DEAN BACK (bass) and TIM HART (drums)–are on the road with Nickelback for a leg of U.S. summer dates from September 5 through 29.
