NATURE MEN:
DAVID BOWIE AND MASSIVE ATTACK COLLABORATE
FOR MODERN INTERPRETATION OF STANDARD
'NATURE BOY'
TO BE FEATURED IN UPCOMING FILM 'MOULIN ROUGE';
BOWIE'S PRESENCE ON THE SOUNDTRACK TO ALSO BE FELT IN OTHER WAYS
DAVID BOWIE and Massive Attack have joined forces for an evocative version of the old standard "Nature Boy." The results of their first-ever collaboration will emerge this summer in the hotly tipped Twentieth Century Fox film "Moulin Rouge," directed by "Romeo and Juliet" and "Strictly Ballroom" creator Baz Lurhmann and starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.
"Nature Boy" will also be featured on the Interscope Records soundtrack album to "Moulin Rouge," a celebration of love and creative inspiration set in the infamous, gaudy and glamorous Parisian nightclub, at the cusp of the twentieth century. Director/co-writer/producer Baz Luhrmann brings together gorgeous period design and modern-era pop tunes to create a unique motion picture experience.
BOWIE recently laid down his vocals in New York City for "Nature Boy" and sent the track off to Massive Attack's Robert '3D' Del Naja in London. BOWIE describes the recording as "slinky and mysterious. '3D' has put together a riveting piece of work. I'm totally pleased with the end result." BOWIE and Massive Attack first met when they found themselves working on the same festival in Israel in the '90s.
BOWIE's presence on the soundtrack will also be felt in other ways via two of his '70s classics: Beck and Timbaland collaborated on an interpretation of "Diamond Dogs," while the film's ensemble sing a medley that includes both "Diamond Dogs" and "Heroes."
