![]() Electronic music producer deadmau5 kick-started his national ‘lots of shows in a row’ U.S. tour this past Wednesday, March 29 with a four-night sold-out run (March 29-April 1) at NYC’s legendary Hammerstein Ballroom. While in the Big Apple, he teamed with FANCY.com for ‘lots of stuff in a store,’ a two-day pop-up shop where world-renowned visual artist Ron English live-painted a custom mau5head. Fans may enter at omaze.com/deadmau5 for a chance to win the head and support NYC-based charity Win (www.winnyc.org).
Over the four nights, more than 8,000 fans passed through Hammerstein’s doors to take in deadmau5′ new Cube 2.1 live production and an opening set from support act Feed Me. From high atop the 18-foot cube, deadmau5–who was heralded by The New Yorker as “…a crucial link in the evolution of the guitar-less rockstar…”–performed an almost two-hour long show featuring a wide range of new material from his W:/2016ALBUM/ album including “Let Go,” “Cat Thruster,” “Snowcone” and “2448,” “Polaris” from We Are Friends Vol. 6 and classics such as “Strobe,” “Ghosts N Stuff,” “The Velt” and “Raise Your Weapon.” To compliment the music, the cube radiated with incredible imagery ranging from a giant mau5 rubix cube and natural landscapes to custom shadertoy panoramas and Rocket League video game scenes.
