With the news that his current single “Ghosts ‘N Stuff” (Ultra Records), featuring Pendulum’s Rob Swire, hit #1 on the Billboard Dance Airplay Chart, three time Juno Award winner DEADMAU5 announced he will return to North America this summer for a round of high-profile appearances. Consisting of over 20 dates which launch May 29 at the Sasquatch Music Festival in Washington state, the electronic music producer and performer will tour his innovative festival show featuring stunning high-end production and the new LED-activated mau5head. Highlights on the routing include a headlining slot on Los Angeles’ Electric Daisy Carnival bill (Friday, June 25), as well as featured sets at Bonnaroo in Tennessee (Saturday, June 12), Stadium Green at Soldier Field in Chicago (Friday, July 2), PNE Coliseum in Vancouver, BC (Saturday, July 10) and the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival in Montreal, QC (Sunday, August 1).
Along the tour route, DEADMAU5 will also perform a few ‘Unhooked’ shows. “Deadmau5 unhooked will mean no massive stage and no LED mau5head," he says. "There will still be some form of production, LED screen and lights and all that stuff… but at some shows it just won’t be possible to supply the LED head of the huge new stage because of travel and routing. That thing isn’t exactly portable!! On the upside, ‘Unhooked’ sets tend to be longer and more diverse.”
DEADMAU5’s new festival show was one of the most talked about performances upon its debut at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival last month, receiving praise in the media (see quotes below). He was also featured in the Los Angeles Times, appearing on the cover of the “Calendar” section (Friday, April 16, 2010). In the story, Evelyn McDonnell wrote: “…deadmau5 (pronounced ‘dead-mouse’) is poised to become 2010's most talked-about dance act and will bust out the stage prop to prove it.”
“BEST STAGE EFFECTS: DEADMAU5 Like a Lite-Brite with a short fuse, this electronic music performer's onstage visuals pulsed, glowed, and had a giant crowd exploding in ecstasy with each ebb and flow of his music. It was a sight to see: a 15-foot tall cubic structure stood on its corner, as its sides projected a tangle of multi-colored dots, lines, and other form-shifting shapes. Huge screens in the background blasted even more visuals, and the man born Joel Thomas Zimmerman stood atop the structure in a mouse outfit that was equipped with lights. Nominated for a Grammy and the winner of multiple Canadian Juno Awards, Zimmerman's dance anthems are, as one glowstick-wielding dancer put it, ‘Hella catchy.’ You could say that again. Thousands of fans were certainly hooked Friday night at the Sahara Tent.” — William Goodman, SPIN.COM (April 17, 2010)
“The night for the party people ended around 1 a.m. with an amazing, high-energy performance and electronics spectacle from dance-master deadmau5.” – Angela Watercutter, WIRED.COM (April 20, 2010)
“…Mr. Mau5 is a headliner at global music festivals, and he's evolved to live up to the billing by presenting an electrifying set of bombastic lights and razor-edged electro-house Friday night at Coachella. Deadmau5, in his signature mouse-ears costume, blasted the festival's Sahara tent with sound and light like a radiologist zaps your bones.” – Dennis Romero, LAWEEKLY.com (April 17, 2010)
“…deadmau5 offered up a fantastically visual and less commercial (ahem… Jay-Z) brand of dance party that kept adrenaline rushing and bodies gyrating until the final moments of this first cosmic Coachella evening.” – David Hall, The Orange County Register (online; April 17, 2010)
“…Deadmau5 got the after party going in the Sahara Tent with an epic performance and stage show…The enraptured audience pulsated with the music as glow sticks waved in the air, wide-eyed girls were entranced by the movement of LED light gloves, and some fans even took to the tent poles and rafters to show their excitement. Deadmau5 commanded the crowd behind a crazy trippy mouse helmet that displayed an LED light show on the front, showing everything from a happy mouse face, to a melting mouse face, to hypnotizing geometrical patterns as hypnotizing as the mixes Deadmau5 crafted.” – Shockhound.com (April 2010)

About DEADMAU5:
"Like him or loathe him, this is the sound of a man at the peak of his powers," wrote Ian Rouller in IDJ (10/21/09). Over the last three years, DEADMAU5 has gone from near obscurity to becoming a superstar as an innovative live performer and master electronic music producer. His two albums Random Album Title and For Lack Of A Better Name (ULTRA Records) highlight many of his dance floor smashes including “Ghosts ‘n Stuff” featuring Pendulum’s Rob Swire and “I Remember” with Kaskade. He has performed at Lollapalooza in Chicago, Electric Zoo in New York, Glastonbury and a series of sold out shows at Brixton Academy in the U.K., as well as a host of other European festivals. His mammoth, worldwide ‘For Lack Of A Better Name’ tour followed encompassing over 30 dates in North America alone. Prior to his Coachella slot this past April, his latest major appearances included a cameo on the WB hit series “Gossip Girl,” the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, where his LiveCity Yaletown performance drew over 20,000 fans, and at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami which drew over 100,000 people.
Look for DEADMAU5 to release a new artist album in August on Ultra Records.
