DWIGHT YOAKAM
“INTENTIONAL HEARTACHE” MARKS FIRST SINGLE AND VIDEO
FROM HIS ‘BLAME THE VAIN’ ALBUM;
SUMMER TOUR AND TELEVISION PERFORMANCES CONFIRMED
“As always, Dwight’s singing and songwriting is first-rate…Yoakam has managed to re-invent himself, find new wellsprings of creativity, and still sound like no one but himself.”
Andy Whitman, PASTE, July 2005
DWIGHT YOAKAM will celebrate the June 14 release of his album BLAME THE VAIN (New West Records) with an array of diverse television appearances and a major concert tour, including a special album launch performance at the House of Blues in Los Angeles this Saturday, June 11. One of the songs featured will be the rollicking “Intentional Heartache,” the album’s first single and video. Directed by DWIGHT, the clip will make its world premiere on CMT Thursday, June 9.
Look for the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter to have a heavy presence on television with performances and interviews. He starts in Los Angeles Tuesday, June 14 with a “Tonight Show” performance of the single “Intentional Heartache” and a live CNN “Showbiz Tonight” interview (6/15). DWIGHT then heads to New York City for “The View” (6/21), “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” (6/21), “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” (6/22) and A&E’s “Breakfast With The Arts” (airdate TBA).
On the concert front, DWIGHT will head out on the road in July for a full summer concert tour through late September, with dates and venues TBA.
BLAME THE VAIN was written and–in a career first–produced solely by DWIGHT. The final absurd moments of dissolution of a domestic situation are uniquely captured in the single “Intentional Heartache.” On the track “She’ll Remember,” the tongue-in-cheek intro gives way to an infectious country rock shuffle. There’s also the poignant innocent plea of “I Wanna Love Again,” which DWIGHT says “acts as a musical metaphor for the emotional thesis for the entire project.” The album’s title track “Blame The Vain” is classic DWIGHT: a self-effacing confessional (where he concludes “…then I just blame me”) set against a beautifully raw ascending guitar riff.
