EARTH, WIND & FIRE’S
NEW SINGLE ‘ALL IN THE WAY’ IMPACTS RADIO;
NEW ALBUM ‘THE PROMISE’ DUE MAY 20 ON KALIMBA RECORDS;
SHED AND THEATER TOUR STARTING MAY 23
EARTH, WIND & FIRE have another hit on their hands in “All In The Way,” the first single from THE PROMISE, due May 20 on Kalimba Records.
Debuting as #1 most added song at Urban Adult Contemporary, “All In The Way” is a classic EARTH, WIND & FIRE track that reunites them with R&B songbirds The Emotions, who also contributed vocals to the group’s 1979 hit “Boogie Wonderland” and 1981’s “Let’s Groove.” “All In The Way” will definitely be in the set list when EARTH, WIND & FIRE launch their tour of sheds and theaters May 23 in Boca Raton, FL.
Their first album of new studio material in six years, THE PROMISE boasts a lineup that mixes hot young talent with the longtime pillars of the band: founder and co-producer MAURICE WHITE, brother VERDINE WHITE on bass, percussionist RALPH JOHNSON, and the golden-throated vocalist PHILIP BAILEY. THE PROMISE features the same crisp arrangements, soaring harmonies and impeccable instrumental performances that earned the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees six consecutive double platinum albums and more than 40 million U.S. album sales.
Fans, who will be able to catch the band on tour this summer, will hear EARTH, WIND & FIRE’s history echoed in the kalimba riffs and simmering strut of “All In The Way,” while traces of modern influence surface in “Dirty”–a groove so hot that it inspired MAURICE to improvise a sly monolog over the rhythm tracks. VERDINE’s sensuous yet rock-steady bass dances around the backbeat on tunes like “Never,” while on “She Waits” the band juxtaposes classical touches with some burnin’ rock guitar. And there’s plenty of steamy, after-hours intimacy, in the slow-dance sway of “Why?,” the dreamy, string-sweetened perfume of “Hold Me,” and other showcases for PHILIP’s matchless vocals, all of it threaded together by enigmatic instrumental interludes.
As MAURICE puts it, “Throughout the years music has changed quite a bit. We’ve changed a bit too, but we’ve never sacrificed our credibility. Everything we’ve done has always been positive. All we want to do is uplift people through music.”
