North America’s largest electronic music experience ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL (EDC) will return to the LA Memorial Coliseum & Exposition Park in downtown Los Angeles Friday, June 25 and Saturday, June 26. Deadmau5, Armin van Buuren, Groove Armada, Moby, Swedish House Mafia, Benny Benassi, Kaskade, Above & Beyond, Fedde Le Grand, Sasha, Laidback Luke, Armand Van Helden, MSTRKRFT, Wolfgang Gartner, BT (Live), Dirty South, Claude von Stroke, Z-Trip, Jackbeats, Steve Aoki, Bart B More, Gareth Emery, Dada Life, Afrojack and Chuckie are just a few of the top-tier electronic talents confirmed for this year’s extravaganza.
Southern California’s premier electronic music experience for well over a decade, ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL is a combination of innovative musical sets by top-tier electronic musicians from around the globe; spectacular large scale art installations by a selection of artists whose works have also shown at Coachella and/or Burning Man; extraordinary light and sound production; and an intensely surreal assortment of performers who create a carnival for the eyes and ears that is unparalleled by any other music festival. Last year’s event (its first as a two-day festival since it began in 1996) drew over 135,000 attendees: 45,000 on Friday (June 26, 2009) and 90,000 on Saturday (June 27, 2009), with the latter figure ranking ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL as one of the largest single day attended music festivals in the U.S.
EDC has scores of still-to-be-announced artists that will appear on five stages, along with a mind-blowing array of attractions, more full-size carnival rides than ever before, costumed performers, and a wide array of newly commissioned large-scale art installations. With five themed areas of music, art and festivities, this will be a truly special ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL.
Tickets are available online now via www.insomniac.com and www.electricdaisycarnival.com as well as at select independent retail outlets. Two-day packages as well as individual tickets for each day will be available. Sell-out crowds are anticipated so early purchase is suggested. VIP packages will be announced at a later date.
Founded by Pasquale Rotella of Insomniac, Inc. (Insomniac) in 1996, ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL has become a staple of West Coast electronic music culture and was ranked alongside such major players as Vevo, Dr. Dre, Jack White’s Third Man Records and Spotify by Fast Company (February 2010) as one of the 10 Most Innovative Companies in music in 2009.
Insomniac has also taken the festival to other states including Colorado, Puerto Rico and Texas. In addition to ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL, Insomniac also produces numerous other annual electronic music events. This year, Audiotistic is set to return July 24 with 25,000 average attendants, Nocturnal Festival on September 25 with 60,000 attendants, Together As One on New Years Eve 2010 with 50,000 attendants and in 2011 Beyond Wonderland with 40,000 attendants.
Insomniac, starting late last year, is now actively producing events in over 25 other markets nationwide. Each market has a wide array of events such as weekly clubs, dance concerts, and festivals in other key markets.
