ERIC HUTCHINSON
SET FOR SOLD-OUT GRAMMY MUSEUM EVENT IN LOS ANGELES
THIS THURSDAY, JANUARY 26
GEARING UP FOR RELEASE PHYSICAL AND DIGITAL DELUXE EDITION OF
‘EASY STREET’
FRIDAY, MARCH 3
![]() ERIC HUTCHINSON is set for a sold-out appearance–a Q&A and intimate performance–this Thursday, January 26 at the Grammy Museum in Downtown Los Angeles.
Look for the set list to include HUTCHINSON favorites and material from the acclaimed singer, songwriter and producer’s self-produced fourth album EASY STREET (2016), the deluxe edition of which will be released digitally with eight bonus mixes along with the standard version available for the first time physically on CD and Vinyl Friday, March 3. A highlight from the album–“Dear Me“–will be released as a single and video (featuring celebrity cameos) as part of a multi-tiered promotional partnership with Microsoft (details TBA) on Thursday, March 16.
“I think EASY STREET is my most soulful collection of songs yet, and making the album reminded me in a lot of ways of making my debut album Sounds Like This 10 years ago,” says ERIC. “I made both albums independently, funded both albums myself, and made both records in a time of great personal change. I put all of my energy and soul into recording these new songs. I’m really proud of them and ‘Dear Me’ is the closest I’ve ever come to getting a song exactly how I heard it in my head.”
“Dear Me,” with its emotional heart, outstanding wordplay and bright melodies, is emblematic of the soulful pop of ERIC HUTCHINSON.
“I started thinking about my younger self and if I had only a few minutes, what would be the most important things I’ve learned since then to pass along,” says ERIC about the song’s inspiration. “I took the exercise of writing to my younger self really seriously and was really moved when I saw what thoughts came to the surface–forgiveness, acceptance, determination and hope. It was a healing experience to look back and realize how much I’ve grown up, and it was humbling to realize that all that advice to my younger self is also advice I’d give myself today.”
A portion of the proceeds from the deluxe edition of EASY STREET will be donated to The Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation, an organization near and dear to ERIC. “Muscular dystrophy is a very personal subject to me, but one that I’ve found great strength in speaking publicly about and normalizing in my own life,” reveals ERIC.
ERIC says: “My father has Myotonic muscular dystrophy and it is a very difficult and unpredictable disease to deal with. I grew up watching him struggle with DM, but I also saw him adapt his life to keep living the way he wanted to. I know the loneliness and isolation that came from growing up with a disease in our family that we didn’t talk about or understand. In 2017, I’m continuing to educate people (and myself) on DM and help fight for care and a cure.“
