EVERCLEAR TO LAUNCH NEW ALBUM
WITH CONCERT AT MANDALAY BAY BEACH SUNDAY, APRIL 20
SYNCLIVE.COM TO WEBCAST SHOW LIVE
Multi-platinum rockers Everclear have long been known for recording and performing a dynamic and eclectic array of covers. Now the best of these recordings have been gathered for the 2008 collection, The Vegas Years (out April 15 via Capitol/EMI), and will be featured during a special “release concert” Sunday, April 20 at the Mandalay Bay Beach in Las Vegas. The performance, marking Everclear’s 15th year as recording artists, is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m and will be broadcast live on the Internet via www.synclive.com The live webcast will also be streamed on Amazon.com Earworm's blog (www.amazon.com/earworm) and www.everclearonline.com.
The show will be presented by MIX 94.1-FM and Mandalay Bay and entrance to the event is appropriately priced at only $9.41, including applicable taxes. The tickets are available at the Mandalay Bay Theatre box office and at all Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations (select Smith’s Food and Drug Centers, Macy’s West at the Fashion Show Mall and Ritmo Latino). Sales are limited to eight (8) per person. To charge by phone with a major credit card, call the Mandalay Bay box office at (702) 632-7580 or Ticketmaster at (702) 474-4000. Tickets also are available for purchase at www.mandalaybay.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
Produced by Everclear singer, guitarist and songwriter Art Alexakis, the new disc features 14 covers the band recorded between 1994 and 2007, including versions of the Go-Go’s’ “Our Lips Are Sealed,” Hall & Oates’ “Rich Girl” and Paul Revere & The Raiders’ “Kicks.” The Vegas Years, in stores Tuesday, April 15, follows 2006’s “Welcome To The Drama Club.” With the singles “Hater” and “Glorious,” it was, in true Everclear fashion, an honest portrait of where Alexakis was in his life. He had previously parted ways with his longtime bandmates, found new players, been through his third divorce and filed for bankruptcy. However, he found peace through writing music and the band later hit the road in 2007 to emerge once again as a cohesive unit.
Everclear’s canon of original material–seven studio albums of bracing songs with Alexakis’ unique, singular vision–is marked by multi-million sales, critical praise, a Grammy nomination and awards including the 1998 Billboard “Modern Rock Artist of the Year” honor. Everclear’s hits include “Santa Monica,” “Everything To Everyone,” “I Will Buy You A New Life,” “Father Of Mine” and “Wonderful.”
The Everclear performance will be held in conjunction with the annual Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) walk held earlier in the day. AFAN provides support and advocacy for adults and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in southern Nevada. AFAN works to reduce HIV infection through prevention education to eliminate fear, prejudice and the stigma associated with the disease. AFAN is the oldest and largest AIDS service organization in Nevada. For more information about AFAN or the 18th Annual AIDS Walk Las Vegas visit www.afanlv.org.
