Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Trey Anastasio and Classic TAB featuring Russ Lawton, Tony Markellis and Ray Paczkowski, Robyn, Matt Costa and Ben Jelen have just been added to the Sunday line-up for the first-ever ALL POINTS WEST MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL and Friday’s bill will include the additions of Grizzly Bear and The Duke Spirit. The inaugural line-up for the festival–set for August 8, 9 and 10 at New Jersey’s Liberty State Park–will also feature performances from Radiohead, Jack Johnson (both headliners will be performing full sets in their only New York area appearances), Underworld, Kings of Leon, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Cat Power, The Roots and The New Pornographers, among others. More than 40 acts will appear on three stages throughout the 80-acre historic location with panoramic views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and the Manhattan skyline.
Additionally, based on the commitment to creating a “green” festival environment, details are now available re ferry service from Manhattan directly to the festival grounds. The 15-minute ferry trip will depart regularly from Pier 11 in Manhattan (Wall St. & FDR) and will take concertgoers past the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island before arriving at Liberty State Park. Ferry service begins at 12 Noon and will continue throughout the day and until all patrons have returned to Manhattan at the end of each of the festival days. Round trip ferry tickets are available now for $20; as of July 28 the price will be $25 and $30 if purchased at the ferry box office on the day of the show. Ferry tickets are available via www.Ticketmaster.com and individual tickets are required for each day since there are no 3-day ferry passes. Light rail service will also be available via NJ Transit/Hudson-Bergen Light Rail directly to the festival grounds. For more information, visit www.njtransit.com.
Beyond the music, festival-goers can visit an eco-village (with a wide variety of local and national organizations on hand), view unique art installations (including large scale 3-D interactive installation art pieces throughout the festival grounds predominantly by local artists. Featured artists include: Gerard Minakawa, Jason Hackenworth, The Do LaB, Situ Studio, Mike Hansel, Peter Barrett and Christopher Janney) and sample a variety of food and drink choices that will reflect the festival’s origins.
Tickets for ALL POINTS WEST are available via www.ticketmaster.com only. Single day passes are available for $89 or three-day passes are $258. A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit “Friends of Liberty State Park.” The “Friends of Liberty State Park” is an open space advocacy volunteer organization dedicated to the park's future as a free, green and non-commercial, urban waterfront oasis. The festival’s name is inspired by the area’s rich history, particularly Ellis Island and the NJ Central Railroad terminal located on the festival site, where many arriving immigrants boarded trains for ALL POINTS WEST.
ALL POINTS WEST is produced by Goldenvoice/AEG Live and Liberty Events in association with the HighLine Ballroom. For up-to-the-minute information on the ALL POINTS WEST MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL, visit www.apwfestival.com.
