MAKES PERFECTO/ULTRA RECORDS U.S. DEBUT
MARCH 20 WITH RELEASE OF ‘GUETTA BLASTER’
“THE WORLD IS MINE” REMIXED BY PAUL OAKENFOLD
INCLUDING DATES IN CONJUCTION WITH SXSW AND WMC
Already a household name in France with several platinum and gold records under his belt, DAVID GUETTA has captured the world’s attention as both a superstar DJ and acclaimed producer. On March 20, the production work and DJ talent of David Guetta will traverse continents with the release of GUETTA BLASTER, which marks the first offering for Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto label in a partnership with Ultra Records. GUETTA will also embark on his first ever-stateside club tour.
Launched by the single “Just A Little More Love” (an electro-funk-house cocktail featuring Chris Willis on vocals), GUETTA’s first album of the same name was released in June 2002 and went on to reach 2x gold status in France. This resounding success carried through in the album’s second, even more devastating single with “Love Don't Let Me Go,” a track that went European 2x gold (650,000+ copies) becoming a mainstay at the top of the radio and TV airplay charts. Despite its success, “Love Don’t Let Me Go” was never fully available outside of GUETTA’s homeland until now.
Guetta Blaster is DAVID GUETTA’s second album. Originally released in only in Europe where it has already reached platinum status, it will now be available for the U.S. with new packaging and an enhanced track listing including the long-awaited “Love Don’t Let Me Go.” It’s even gutsier than its predecessor with songs modeled on electro-pop classics of the ‘80s by such masters as Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Dead Or Alive and New Order, but they are all original compositions by GUETTA and his co-composer/co-producer Joachim Garraud. The gospel sounds of singer Chris Willis (“Love Don’t’ Let Me Go,” “Used To Be The One”) are impressive, as are the contributions by guest vocalists JD Davis (“The World Is Mine”), James Perry (“Movement Girl”), Britain’s Stereo MCs (“Open Your Eyes”) and Jamaican darling Miss Thing (“Last Train”). Maverick recording artist, Perfecto label head and fellow superstar DJ Paul Oakenfold lends his studio talents to GUETTA BLASTER with his bonus downtempo remix of “The World His Mine,” another one of GUETTA’s dance floor burners.
Another highlight on the U.S. version of Guetta Blaster is David Guetta vs. The Egg’s mash-up “Love Don’t Let Me Go (Walking Away).” GUETTA regularly makes his own DJ tools/edits of his favorite records to spin out at his gigs. When he and production partner Joachim Garraud took the Tocadisco remix of The Egg’s “Walking Away” and layered their incredible Chris Willis vocal over it, they knew they’d re-created something very special.
The mash-up blew up to be the hottest dance track of the Ibiza season and crossed pop to be a #3 smash in the U.K., holding in the Top 20 for over two months. And with equal success second time around in France, “Love Don’t Let Me Go” has proved itself to be a song with timeless, classic appeal. It scored Top 10 success in Spain and Italy and been a hit as far and wide as Australia, South Africa with Russia and Japan releases imminent. “Love Don’t Let Me Go” is the lead single from Guetta Blaster impacting the U.S. now. Already it has peaked at the #2 position on Billboard’s Dance Radio chart and it continues to hold at #9 after being on the chart since September.
The success of GUETTA’s first album heralded the beginning of a new DJ career–this time on a global level. Now GUETTA–one of the most in-demand DJs on the planet–headlines throughout Europe on a regular basis as well as in Australia, Japan, South America, Canada and beyond. His first DJ dates in the U.S. last year at Vanguard in Los Angeles, crobar in Chicago and Pacha in New York were a huge success with complete sell-outs. In support of Guetta Blaster, GUETTA will return to the U.S. and embark on his first-ever national headlining club tour making this territory his point of focus for 2007. The tour’s select number of dates include appearances at major east coast and mid-west clubs with stops in Austin during SXSW and Miami during the Winter Music Conference, including the second annual presentation of his world-renowned ‘F*** Me I’m Famous’ party.
Launched in Ibiza and now calendar staples in Paris, Cannes, London, New York, Miami and beyond, David and his fabulous wife Cathy’s ‘F*** Me I’m Famous’ (FIMF) party is an indulgent and decadent mix of both the music and fashion scenes with crazy-cool clubbers. They are unique with rock and film stars, moguls and models mixing with die-hard dance fans. The European triple-gold selling mix CDs and its DJ driven record label of the same name are collectables, helping to establish FMIF as one of the world’s coolest brands.
DAVID GUETTA was the highest new entry in the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll in 2005, and is now the top-ranked European House DJ. David was also nominated last year for a prestigious Grammy for his remix of Deep Dish’s “Flashdance.” He has also remixed “Heroes” by David Bowie (garnering the rare approval for a full release from the icon) as well as the Billboard chart topper “Avalon” by Juliet.
