FILM VIDEO FOR THIRD SINGLE ‘BAD DAY’ WITH NIGEL DICK;
TOUR WITH AEROSMITH SET TO KICK OFF JUNE 6
FUEL recently completed shooting the video for “Bad Day,” the third single from the platinum-certified SOMETHING LIKE HUMAN CD with director Nigel Dick. The clip was shot at a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Los Angeles and on location around the city. Dick (Oasis, Guns ‘n Roses, REM, as well as FUEL‘s “Innocent” and “Hemorrhage” clips) filmed the group-JEFF ABERCROMBIE, bass; CARL BELL, guitar; KEVIN MILLER, drums; BRETT SCALLIONS, vocals/guitar)-in a conceptual piece that finds BRETT as the role of patient in CARL‘s psychiatry office. “It’s very different for me to play a role like that,” adds BRETT. “It was a little weird trying to be anything other than a musician, but we got into it.”
Of the song itself, CARL says, “‘Bad Day’ reflects the tell-tale paths that relationships take. The bad things that happen during the day of the girl in the song is a foreshadowing in some sense. Some relationships are more work than others, but this song is about the struggle in every relationship.”
“Bad Day” follows the massive Modern and Mainstream rock success of the album’s first two singles, the top five “Innocent” and “Hemorrhage (In My Hands)” (which was #1 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks chart for 12 consecutive weeks) and was recently described by Rolling Stone as “an epic, haunting slice of alt-rock melodrama.” The group are currently performing at a number of radio festival shows before heading out on a 15-week tour as special guests of Aerosmith.
Life on the road with the Boston legends (with whom FUEL toured in ’98) will be a little change of pace for the group, who’ve performed over 400 shows since the release of their platinum debut CD SUNBURN: “We literally go from having a deli tray to a steak and lobster tray,” says CARL. “They’re incredibly cool guys who are so into performing live. And this isn’t some mutation of Aerosmith-this is all the original guys playing their asses off. And when they tour, they get it exactly right-they’re one of the best touring outfits ever.”
