GLOBAL UNDERGROUND TO RELEASE ‘ATLANTIC BREAKERS’, THE DEBUT ARTIST ALBUM FROM PAKO & FREDERIK NOVEMBER 4
Global Underground is famed the world over for their award-winning, globe-trotting DJ mix albums but never before have they ventured into the world of original repertoire studio albums until now. On November 4, GU marks the formation of their new brand Global Underground Music with the release ATLANTIC BREAKERS, the debut artist album from two of Holland’s finest producers PAKO & FREDERIK. The first single from the album, “Systematic” (backed by “Step Lively” and the mellow “Systematic Error” mix) will be released in October.
With their sub-labels Coded and Quad, PAKO & FREDERIK have been releasing quality 12” singles for the last 5 years and are no strangers to the world of Global Underground. In 1999, the pair’s track “Blue Steel” was released on John Digweed’s Bedrock label and appeared on his Global Underground: Hong Kong album. In 2002 they released on their Coded label the singles “Beatus Possessor” and “Western Approaches,” the latter of which appeared on the first Electric Calm compilation.
Brought up in Arnhem, Holland, Pako (born as Sekander Raisani) & Frederik (born as Frederik Borgesius) met when they were both 19 through a love of clubs and dance music. A year later they were working together in the studio and produced well-known underground gems like “The Magic Shop” and “Seaside Atmosphere.” Three years later in 1996 they set up their own label, Majestic Music through which their songs “Western Approaches,” “Blue Steel” and “Hidden Fields” began causing ripples around the world’s dance scene.
Atlantic Breakers is a venture through cool ethereal breaks including previously aired tracks “Pintan Alley” and “Make Me” which were featured on Electric Calm V2. The album flows through tremendous ranges with 11 tracks varying from relaxing ambient through to more upbeat dance floor cuts that bring the album to a triumphant close.
“Releasing this album on Global Underground is amazing! It gives us a feeling of freedom, to experiment more than we used to do when we perform. On the album you’ll get to hear more than just the music you hear when we perform live on stage.” says Pako from his studio in The Hague.
So slip it in the CD player, sit back and enjoy the view, because the Atlantic sure looks good from here.
