HALFCOCKED BUT LOADED: HALFCOCKED will deliver their major label debut album THE LAST STAR June 12 on Megatronic/DreamWorks Records. The co-ed band is the first signing to Megatronic, the label started by Powerman 5000 frontman Spider One. Described by Spider as “a combination of AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Guns N’ Roses and Blondie,” HALFCOCKED is punky and heavy. THE LAST STAR–produced by Ulrich Wild (Deftones, Buckcherry, White Zombie)–contains spiky sentiments matched with muscular playing as evidenced by the first single “I Lied.” Lead singer/songwriter SARAH REITKOPP says the song “is about a situation with somebody where they think they have the upper hand and in the end you say, ‘You know what, you didn’t have the upper hand.'” The video for “I Lied” will be directed by Spider One and is set to be filmed in late-March. Other songs on the album include “All By Myself,” “Thanks For The Ride,” “Touchdown” and “Devil Shoes.” Formed in Boston in early 1997, HALFCOCKED—REITKOPP (vocals), JOHNNY HEATLEY (lead guitar), JAIME RICHTER (rhythm guitar/vocals), REGINA ZERNAY (bass) and CHARLEE JOHNSON(drums)–released two full-length albums, SELL OUT and OCCUPATION: ROCK STAR, on Boston-indie Curve Of The Earth before catching Spider’s attention. Their OCCUPATION: ROCK STAR album just received a 2001 Boston Music Award nomination for “Debut Album (Indie Label).” In addition, HALFCOCKED earned a nomination for “Rising Star,” while REITKOPP captured a nomination for “Female Vocalist (Indie Label).”
