The self-titled album from HANNAH WICKLUND & THE STEPPIN STONES–fronted by 20-year-old powerhouse Hannah Wicklund–is out today, January 26 (via her Strawberry Moon imprint) on a wave of praise from such outlets as Guitar Player, Relix, Guitar World and the weekly Nashville Scene (*see pull quotes below). Notably, the album’s lead single “Bomb Through The Breeze” was just added to the top of the ‘Fierce Femmes’ playlist on Spotify.

Listen to HANNAH WICKLUND & THE STEPPIN STONES via the following platforms: iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music.
Recently, Premier Guitar premiered the second single, “Ghost” and Kate Koenig raved that “…the 20-year-old’s stage presence and guitar playing is pure voltage…on ‘Ghost’…Wicklund’s scarlet-toned vocals drip over a steady blues-rock groove punctuated by gnawing electric guitar.”Click here to listen to “Ghost” via Spotify.

Produced by Sadler Vaden, guitarist for Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit, the album–an aural kaleidoscope of blazing guitars and searing vocals, all of which establish Wicklund as a triple-threat player, singer and writer–was recorded in Nashville and is a fresh take on WICKLUND’s musical influences drawn from ’60s & ’70s guitar-driven rock. “Once we started writing some songs, I saw that she had a real, raw talent,” says producer Vaden. “I was inspired to work with her by her love of classic rock music and blues. I wanted to honor that in making this album, but also add a little modern edge to it.”

HANNAH WICKLUND AND THE STEPPIN STONES—who’ve played over 2,000 shows including notable festival appearances–are in the middle of an overall 50-date2018 “Sibling Rivalry” tour with The High Divers, stopping in major cities such as New York, Austin, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Tickets are on sale for all three legs of the tour now (see all tour dates below). For more information and to purchase tickets, visit: https://www.hannahwicklund.com/

Additional praise for HANNAH WICKLUND & THE STEPPIN STONES:

“… one of rock’s most exciting young guitarists…Hannah Wicklund and The Steppin Stones have consistently stood out as a young band on the rise. The band’s self-titled, fifth album–produced by Sadler Valden and set for a January 26 release–draws from the guitarist’s classic rock influences, which range from Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck to Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty. The result is a fiery combination of blues-rock passion that pays homage to her musical roots while giving them modern, 21-century feel. With her tasty fret work and tireless work ethic, Wicklund is a guitarist to watch for 2018.”
–James Wood, Guitar World Magazine(online), December 4, 2017

“With influences like Tom Petty for conscious song crafting and Jimi Hendrix for guitar pyrotechnics, Wicklund…is anxious to unleash a more mature album from her power trio.”
–Larson Sutton, RELIX, December 2017 issue

“…Wicklund is not simply a shredder or a tonal colorist – though she certainly has chops and can go for some buzzy and less-than-organic sounds. What’s impressive to me is how she uses her custom Tom Anderson guitar and Orange half-stack to drive the emotional context of her songs with a combination of spiky rhythms, slow lines, fast runs, and cagey riffs. It all adds up to a thrilling ride.”
–Michael Molenda, Guitar Player Magazine (online), September 13, 2017

“…blues-rock guitarist and singer Hannah Wicklund is a total pro … her new full-length, Hannah Wicklund & the Steppin Stones, benefits from the careful production of guitarist Sadler Vaden… Wicklund makes her Nashville-sounding move on the new album – Vaden wisely allows the tracks to remain uncluttered, though Wicklund gets room to shred on guitar. She and Vaden collaborated on the new record’s brisk workout ‘Bomb Through the Breeze,’ a fine bit of commercial blues. Meanwhile, the track ‘Ghost’ manages to combine the styles of Tom Petty and Albert King – it’s perhaps her best effort to date. If you’re gonna Nashville-ize the blues, this is a classy way to do it.”
–Edd Hurt, NASHVILLE SCENE, Janaury 17, 2018

“Hannah Wicklund & The Steppin Stones is a phenomenal record with a remarkable young woman at its core. It is musically diverse and thematically robust. Ms. Wicklund’s singing and playing rival and surpass many of the radio friendlier performers of her generation….[her] vocal mastery and musical prowess belie her youth…”
–Allen J. Miller, CRYPTIC ROCK, January 23, 2018 (online)
