JARS OF CLAY
EMBARKING ON EXTENSIVE U.S. TOUR FEBRUARY 23
Three-time Grammy Award winners JARS OF CLAY will hit the road for an extensive tour beginning February 23 in Fletcher, NC and wrapping July 25 in Los Angeles. The upcoming trek is in connection with its newly released albumWHO WE ARE INSTEAD (Essential Records) which has already sold more than 100,000 copies and features the single “Show You Love,” set to impact Mainstream Rock radio February 23.
Who We Are Instead–self-produced by the band along with Ron Aniello (Lifehouse, Guster, Barenaked Ladies) and Mitch Dane (Billy Cervemy, Jonathan Noel)–marks a return to the acoustic, soulful sound that launched JARS OF CLAY’s musical journey 10 years ago. “We were excited to just sit in a room and re-embrace the simple acoustic process that got us started,” noted DAN HASELTINE, JARS’ lead singer. “What has emerged, we hope, is an album that is organic and soulful and an honest expression of the things we believe.”
Since forming in 1993, the Tennessee-based JARS OF CLAY–singer DAN HASELTINE, acoustic guitarist MATT ODMARK, guitarist STEPHEN MASON and keyboardist CHARLIE LOWELL–have released six albums and sold more than five million records. The group has three Grammy Award wins (and five nominations) to their credit: in ’97 for Much Afraid, in 2000 for If I Left The Zoo and in 2002 for The Eleventh Hour. After developing a local fan base and releasing its debut in 1995, JARS received praise for their energetic shows, tight musicianship and understated spirituality. In a live review from their 2002 show at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, Tom Roland wrote in the Hollywood Reporter, “Part of Jars’ appeal lies in the band’s ability to tie disparate emotions into single moments, their bright harmonies and crashing guitars simultaneously communicating hope and turmoil…Like the Beatles, Jars of Clay demonstrated a certain versatility, mixing catchy pop, intense folk-rock, Muscle Shoals-like soul and hard-edged grunge.”
