JOHN FOGERTY JOINS BRAD PAISLEY
ONSTAGE LAST NIGHT (8/22) IN MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA
FOR FOUR SONGS INCLUDING A ROUSING VERSION
OF ‘HOT ROD HEART’
As JOHN FOGERTY gears up for his fall tour in support of his critically acclaimed album WROTE A SONG FOR EVERYONE, the singer, songwriter and guitarist made a guest appearance with one of his very special collaborators from the new album. Last night (8/22) at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA, the northern Californian was invited onstage by Brad Paisley to perform the album’s “Hot Rod Heart,” a rollicking FOGERTY original on which the two artists trade off vocals and guitar licks. FOGERTY also joined Paisley for an encore of “Centerfield,” “Alcohol” and “Proud Mary.”
FOGERTY and Paisley recorded “Hot Rod Heart” together at Ocean Way Studio in Nashville last year, and the two have wanted to perform it live together ever since.
Check out footage of Paisley discussing their collaboration and in-studio footage here.
Of the inspiration for “Hot Rod Heart,” FOGERTY says, “I have always loved car songs. The idea of getting in your car and running off down the road is very exhilarating. To me, the best car songs have a certain musical horizon, so you kind of set the mood musically at the beginning. Cars represent freedom, adventure and the chance to experience something brand new. I captured what my imagination saw and felt in this song.”
In advance of his solo tour dates, which kick off October 10 in Los Angeles, JOHN FOGERTY will perform at a variety of U.S. music festivals. Next up for FOGERTY, a Labor Day weekend gig at Harley-Davidson’s 110th anniversary party in Milwaukee, WI, where he’ll perform alongside WROTE A SONG FOR EVERYONE collaborator Kid Rock. FOGERTY will then head to Virginia where he’ll play a solo set, sitting in with Widespread Panic, at the Interlocken Music Festival, Lastly, FOGERTY will travel to Nashville for Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Music & Food Festival in late September to sit in with the Zac Brown Band, who also appear on WROTE A SONG FOR EVERYONE, collaborating on the “Bad Moon Rising” track. FOGERTY–one of rock’s most important artists and a national treasure who’s sold over 100 million albums–will launch his month-long headlining solo tour October 10 in Los Angeles which wraps November 13 in New York City.
WROTE A SONG FOR EVERYONE marks FOGERTY’s ninth studio solo album since disbanding Creedence Clearwater Revival. Mixed by Bob Clearmountain, it was recorded in Los Angeles and Nashville except for “Proud Mary” which was recorded in New Orleans with Allen Toussaint and the Rebirth Brass Band. FOGERTY recorded “Fortunate Son” with Foo Fighters at their 606 studio using “the” legendary Neve recording console featured in the #1 iTunes documentary Sound City. Produced by FOGERTY, WROTE A SONG FOR EVERYONE is generating widespread praise and received Rolling Stone magazine’s highest rating–a rare 5 stars–in a recent lead review.
