UPTOWN/DOWNTOWN: Having already performed at Harlem’s Apollo Theater in 1999, KORN added another historic venue to their career itinerary when the band raised the roof at New York’s CBGB’s last night in front of a sweaty, maniacal hard core crowd. KORN–JONATHAN, MUNKY, HEAD, FIELDY and DAVID–crammed their equipment onto the lower Manhattan venue’s small stage to perform this fans-only show, which followed Friday’s sold-out Hammerstein show. Fans in the area were alerted to the show in a live announcement Monday at 10:45 AM on New York’s KROCK and by a fan-club-only e-mail that same morning. By 11:00 AM, a crowd had started to form outside CBGB’s for the 10:00 PM show. The band’s 70-minute set included “Right Now,” “Did My Time,” “Counting On Me” (which was the live debut of this song) and “Let’s Do This Now” from the just-released Take a Look in the Mirror album (Epic/Immortal), alongside KORN classics “Blind,” “Freak On A Leash,” “Got The Life” and album tracks like “It’s On” and “My Gift To You.” Tonight, KORN perform in Boston as part of their “Xbox Live: Back 2 Basics Tour” with Limp Bizkit.
