KORN PERFORM A SET 37,000 FEET IN THE AIR
FOR CONTEST WINNERS AND U.S. SOLDIERS
ON TRANSATLANTIC PRIVATE PLANE
FROM LONDON TO NEW YORK;
BAND’S RECENT PERFORMANCE ON “SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE” WAS PART OF EPISODE THAT RECEIVED THE SHOW’S HIGHEST RATING OF THE SEASON
KORN took the art of live performance to the next level today when they became the first multi-platinum rock band to perform a set while at 37,000 feet on board a transatlantic private aircraft en route to New York from London.
The audience was made up of European MTV contest winners and eight U.S. soldiers who have served in either Afghanistan or Iraq and are currently on leave in Frankfurt, Germany and Venice, Italy. This mind-blowing 5-song electric performance–part of the band’s “See You On The Other Side” contest in connection with the December 6 release of the SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE album–occurred while the plane was flying over Iceland and Greenland and included the band’s hits “Blind,” “Freak On A Leash” and “Got The Life.” Lead singer JONATHAN DAVIS sang through the airplane’s PA system, while band members JAMES “MUNKY” SHAFFER, FIELDY and DAVID SILVERIA performed using battery powered amps.
Tomorrow (November 29), the Grammy-winning, trend-setting modern rock icons who’ve sold over 25 million albums will take over New York City with a special performance at Hammerstein Ballroom, where they’ll preview songs from their upcoming seventh studio album SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE and dig into their compelling and controversial body of work. This gig will be highlighted by a unique production created specifically for this show that will not be seen at any other KORN concert. This one-off gig will be taped for an MTV2 half-hour special which will air December 3 at 9:30 PM and December 6 at 10:30 AM.
The U.S. soldiers and MTV Europe contest winners who traveled with KORN on the “See You On The Other Side” chartered flight will also join the band for this special performance in connection with the release of KORN’s new album via the band’s new global partnership with EMI/Virgin Records.
In other news, KORN recently made their first-ever performance in a U.S. television studio (November 19) on “Saturday Night Live,” performing their blazing single “Twisted Transistor” and their volatile hit “Freak On A Leash.” The episode, hosted by Eva Longoria, received the show’s highest rating of the season.
