KORN TO LAUNCH HEADLINING NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
JULY 18 IN FARGO, ND WITH POWERMAN 5000 AND PAPA ROACH;
'SOMEBODY SOMEONE' IS THIRD SINGLE AND VIDEO
As their third single "Somebody Someone" from their triple platinum album ISSUES gains momentum at radio, the explosive KORN are preparing to launch a North American headlining tour July 18 in Fargo, ND with their special guests Powerman 5000 and Papa Roach. The 22-date trek-on the heels of KORN's dates on Metallica's Summer Sanitarium Tour which wraps up July 16–will encompass 16 concerts in the U.S. and the rest in Canada.
As with KORN's recent headlining tour of the U.S., highlights from Spike & Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation will provide visual chaos on huge screens before and after the band's performance. The notoriety of this festival (the birthplace of "Beavis and Butthead" as well as home to "Spirit Of Christmas"–the original, un-censored "South Park" short by Matt Stone and Trey Parker–and early works by Eric Fogel, creator of MTV's "Celebrity Deathmatch") has caused Spike and Mike to be dubbed as the kings of tasteless toons by the animation industry.
Mike Bordin (Faith No More, Ozzy Osbourne) will continue to fill in for KORN drummer DAVID, who's still sidelined with a wrist injury. DAVID injured his wrist at a KORN show earlier this year and will rejoin JONATHAN, MUNKY, HEAD and FIELDY when they go into the studio to record their next album.
"Somebody Someone" follows KORN's two consecutive Top 10 songs on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart–"Falling Away From Me" and "Make Me Bad"–from the critically acclaimed ISSUES. Fans can look forward to a reliably distinctive KORN video for "Somebody Someone" directed by Martin Weisz, who also lensed "Make Me Bad." As the band perform the harrowing song about personal desperation in a subterranean environment, they are being haunted by menacing insects.
The song and video "Somebody Someone" underline the unique aspect of KORN–who've sold over 10 million albums in America alone–as identified by Janiss Garza in her New Times Los Angeles review of ISSUES: "There is beauty in terror, and strength often springs from pain. Korn has hammered those messages home since their 1994 debut album. Issues does the same thing in a more cerebral manner…"
