+LIVE+ (today 9/28) have announced thattheir new EP LOCAL 717 will be released Friday, October 12 via Kavalry Records. The five-songEP marks the first collection of new material from the original line-up in over a decade. The hard-edged and driving “Be a Giver, Man”–which features Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction on percussion–is the second offering from the EP (on the heels of the recently released “Love Lounge”) and premiered yesterday on Consequence of Soundwith Randall Colburn noting, “Taylor’s dynamic riffs twist and crackle beneath Kowalczyk’s bravura vocals on the vibrant track…” Watch a lyric video for “Be a Giver, Man,”here.
Produced by +LIVE+ guitarist Chad Taylor and recorded at Think Loud Studios in the band’s hometown of York, PA with additional recording completed in Los Angeles at the Foo Fighters’ Studio 606, +LIVE+ bring raw energy and renewed creativity on LOCAL 717 which comes following the band’s 2017 reunion. The EP contains four original songs and a cover of the Velvet Underground‘s “Venus In Furs” from their 1967 debut album The Velvet Underground & Nico. *See the track listing below.
Frontman Ed Kowalczyk recently spoke to Steroegum.com about the band’s healing. The above-mentioned “Love Lounge” continues to make noise on the Billboard Active Rock and Mainstream Rock charts (watch the music video here). RollingStone.com‘s Ryan Reed praised the song as “thunderous” and noting that “Kowalczyk alternates between a muted, bluesy rumble and a full-throated roar on the track, singing over psychedelic guitar leads, swooshing hi-hats and layers of distortion.”
