THIS JUST IN: Look for TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS to make their first-ever appearance on Late Night With Conan O’Brien on Wednesday, July 7. The group will take a detour from their in-progress “Echo” concert route to stop by the show’s New York City studios to perform “Swingin’,” cited in reviews as one of the highlights of their critically acclaimed ECHO (Warner Bros.) album. Meanwhile, the band’s live performances have already been garnering lots of praise from the media, with the Pittsburgh Post Gazette noting: “The set was a loose, inspired blend of hits that put the classic in classic rock (`Don’t Do Me Like That,’ `American Girl’) and tunes from Petty’s latest, ECHO. It’s one of the better albums of the year, so the new material had no trouble holding its own in the company of `Listen to Her Heart’ or `You Got Lucky.'” The tour kicked off June 14 in Grand Rapids, MI and will conclude October 16 at the Hollywood Bowl, the venue where TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS performed two record-setting concerts four years ago.
