LUCHA VaVOOM–the acclaimed and mind-blowing Mexican masked wrestling/burlesque/comedy ensemble voted Los Angeles’ “Best Burlesque Show” by LA Weekly for 2012 and 2013–have announced that rock/electro musician and performance artist PEACHES will be the first-ever musical act for their outrageous performances taking place at their Valentine’s shows Wednesday, February 12 and Thursday, February 13 at The Mayan in Downtown Los Angeles. PEACHES will kick off both nights with a musical opening number, the likes of which LUCHA fans have never seen!
LUCHA VaVOOM–coming off a massively successful 2013 in which they sold out all six of their shows in their Los Angeles hometown–are excited to welcome the controversial and exciting PEACHES to their already must-be-seen-to-be-believed spectacles. Since the release of her debut album in 2000, Peaches has spread her seed on the pop culture landscape, harnessing a worldwide audience and, along with the countless followers she’s inspired, has shaped the mainstream into a more inclusive and sexually progressive surrounding. Over the years, she’s built a reputation on her suggestive and intelligent lyrics, her amalgamation of rock and electro sounds and her balls-out performances, continuing to outdo herself with each brash step.
“We’re huge fans of PEACHES,” says LUCHA VaVOOM co-founder RITA D’ALBERT. “She’s an amazing, fearless artist; so perfect for Lucha VaVOOM–we want to be her dream date.” RITA also adds that they have always wanted to collaborate with musical artists on a large scale, and promises that this is the beginning of a whole new universe for LUCHA VaVOOM.
LUCHA VaVOOM Valentine’s shows are for lovers and first timers, the perfect first show for the LUCHA VaVOOM uninitiated! The line-up for these February shows will be announced soon.
Founded in Los Angeles in 2002 by Rita D’Albert and Liz Fairbairn, Lucha VaVOOM is non-stop, action-packed surrealism where Mexican masked wrestlers perform breathtaking acrobatic feats in a fast-paced, fun-filled, character-driven style. Known for their far-out flamboyance, its quick, exhibition-style, one-fall Lucha Libre matches are designed for maximum enjoyment and action. At LUCHA VAVOOM, they like a little sexo with their violencia. In between matches, the finest handpicked burlesque acts from around the world wow the crowds with their unique striptease skills, including raucous aerial acts, pogo-stick peelers and hula-hoop hotties. They’ve searched the world’s dungeons, sumptuous theaters, and sweaty Mexican wrestling dens for the most spectacular performers they could find.
