LYNYRD SKYNYRD TO HEADLINE
‘TRIBUTE TO HEROES’ EVENT FOR RETURNING TROOPS
APRIL 22 AT FORT HOOD, TX
After a year of service in Iraq, over 20,000 soldiers from the Army’s 4th Infantry Division are coming home to take a few hard-earned weeks off to reunite with family and friends. LYNYRD SKYNYRD will honor the dedicated service of these brave men and women–the division that captured Saddam Hussein–by headlining the TRIBUTE TO HEROES event April 22 at the Army’s Fort Hood, TX base. Throughout the day, the special outdoor celebration is expected to draw 100,000 people, made up of the troops and their families. A crowd of 30,000 will be able to see LYNYRD SKYNYRD’s performance at the 4th ID Headquarters.
Singer JOHNNY VAN ZANT says, “The members of the band and I feel it’s an honor and a pleasure to be able to perform for such a prestigious group of individuals who played a key role in Saddam’s capture. We look forward to seeing everyone.”
Last June, the legendary rock band launched their worldwide “VICIOUS CYCLE TOUR” with a free concert for 5,000 U.S. troops and their families at Frankfurt, Germany’s Rhein Main Air Base. At that show, they performed “Red White and Blue,” the hit song from the VICIOUS CYCLE album that proudly salutes the patriotic lifestyle of America.
