FOR THE RELEASE OF ‘4TH & WALL’ OCTOBER 23
Milan Records has announced they have partnered with Los Angeles-based rock outfit West Indian Girl and Flycell, a leading wireless content company which produces and distributes digital entertainment for mobile and online spaces, in a unique deal for the promotion and release of West Indian Girl’s sophomore album 4th & Wall, due October 23, 2007. Through their agreement, these three entities will completely control the marketing, distribution and promotion of the project from the initial conception of the album.
In their association, Milan Records provides its services which includes production, distribution and marketing through its channels; Flycell will invest financially in an A&R aspect and provide a gateway into the mobile community through its already established network; and West Indian Girl—who is Robert James (vocals/guitar), Francis Ten (bass), Mariqueen Maandig (vocals/percussion), Mark Lewis (drums), Nathan Van Hala (keyboard) and Amy White (keyboard/back-up vocals)— provides the creative elements.
This first-time deal, spearheaded by Milan’s JC Chamboredon, U.S. Label Manager, Nick Bobetsky, VP, Sales and Marketing, Mark Reynolds, Director of A&R at Flycell and Ian McEvily of Rebel One Management and Francis Ten on behalf of West Indian Girl—utilizes its parties to cover all of the relevant parts of marketing an album in today’s music business landscape. Flycell will be a dominant force for the promotion of West Indian Girl through mobile elements including wall papers, ringtones, exclusives, unreleased material, videos to cell phones and more progressive mobile initiatives.
It marks the first time an indie label and a mobile content company are working together from the beginning–when the artist signed into the deal–through the promotion and release of the album in the U.S. This is an opportunity for an artist-friendly deal, extremely high-quality music, expertise of a leading independent record label and progressive thinking of Flycell, a company that can use this opportunity to brand themselves with music they believe in and play an integral role in building the success of West Indian Girl exponentially.
West Indian Girl was previously signed to Astralwerks Records where they released their self-titled debut album and remix EP in 2004. Details of 4th & Wall will be released at a later date. West Indian Girl just completed a 12-date North East tour in July previewing their new material including the All Good Festival in West Virginia.
