Organizers for the fourth annual SUNSET STRIP MUSIC FESTIVAL (SSMF) have announced set times for the Saturday, August 20 street festival, featuring headliners MÖTLEY CRÜE, BUSH, PUBLIC ENEMY, MATT & KIM and more on two outdoor stages. In addition, MÖTLEY CRÜE with great excitement has confirmed their headlining set will feature from their current national tour the “360” vertical drum rollercoaster.
The “360” features TOMMY LEE being launched into multiple vertical loops while continuing to perform. To add to the insanity, LEE will pick a SSMF fan from the audience to join him for his crazy ride. Check out the “360” in action at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx1Q_FUPg6k.
The 2011 SSMF marks the third year Sunset Boulevard will be closed to traffic between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard, where it is transformed into a premier concert destination with outdoor stages, beer gardens, artist autograph tent, an outdoor VIP rooftop lounge, food trucks, interactive experiences and live performances within the venues from 1 p.m. until close. SSMF kicks off Thursday, August 18 when MÖTLEY CRÜE will be honored for their contributions to the legacy of The Sunset Strip as the recipients of the 2011 Elmer Valentine Award at a special ceremony at House of Blues. Bands will perform all weekend long at venues along the famed 1.6 mile Sunset Strip including House of Blues Sunset Strip, Key Club, The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go, and a variety of comics will appear at The Comedy Store.
