PAT MONAHAN ANNOUNCES FIRST-EVER SOLO TOUR
KICKING OFF OCTOBER 4
IN SUPPORT OF HIS DEBUT SOLO ALBUM ‘LAST OF SEVEN’
OUT SEPTEMBER 18 VIA COLUMBIA RECORDS
THE TRAIN FRONT MAN IS CONFIRMED FOR PERFORMANCES ON AN ARRAY OF TELEVISION SHOWS IN CONNECTION WITH ALBUM LAUNCH AND TOUR DATES
PAT MONAHAN, the front man for the Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum group Train, has announced his first-ever solo tour in support of his debut solo album LAST OF SEVEN, due out September 18 via Columbia Records.
The 35-city cross country trek commences October 4 in Phoenix and takes the singer and songwriter to such cities as Los Angeles, San Francisco (two nights at the historic Fillmore), Seattle, Boston and Chicago before concluding November 18 in Dallas. For these dates, MONAHAN will be backed by a full band and perform songs from LAST OF SEVEN—including the melodically buoyant and lyrically vivid first single “Her Eyes”–alongside an assortment of such Train hits as "Meet Virginia," "Drops Of Jupiter" and "Calling All Angels."
MONAHAN is confirmed for an array of television appearances in the coming months in connection with LAST OF SEVEN, a bracing mix of up-tempo rock, ballads and soulful grooves with gospel-imbued touches. Look for PAT to perform on the Today Show Friday, September 14; the Tonight Show Tuesday, October 2; the Ellen DeGeneres Show and the Late Show With Craig Ferguson Thursday, October 4; and the CBS Early Show Saturday, November 3.
For LAST OF SEVEN, MONAHAN teamed with esteemed producer Patrick Leonard (Madonna, Elton John, Roger Waters) and together they crafted a soulful rock and pop album that gives his soaring emotive vocals and rich storytelling lyrics an exciting new dimension. All the tracks on LAST OF SEVEN were written or co-written by MONAHAN. He is joined by Brandi Carlile on the duet “Pirate On The Run,” while Graham Nash lends background vocals to “Cowboys and Indians” and Richie Sambora adds acoustic guitar to “Someday.”
Says PAT: ““With this album I want people to once and for all match this voice with who I am. I have a voice that’s been familiar enough over the past few years–now I want people to connect the whole story. I want that for myself because I feel I’ve earned it at this point. And I want the opportunity to keep making music–now even more than ever before.”
In response to the inevitable rumors that emerge when an artist from a successful band announces the release of a solo album, PAT explains: “When people ask, ‘Is Train broken up?’ It’s very much the opposite. The guys have been extremely supportive of this record. They want this album to do well–as any friend would for any friend, and I want the same for them. For me, making this album makes Train live longer instead of the opposite being true.”
