GLOBALLY ACCLAIMED DJ AND AUDIO ARCHITECT
PAUL VAN DYK
RETURNS TO COACHELLA SATURDAY, APRIL 16
TO DEBUT HIS 2011 FESTIVAL SHOW
NEW ALBUM ‘EVOLUTION’ DUE OUT THIS SUMMER
Creating the right atmosphere has always been a major part of presentation at a PAUL VAN DYK (PvD) show, and for his appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival Saturday, April 16, fans can expect nothing less. Now with news regarding EVOLUTION—VAN DYK’s new artist album in the works for release later this year—festival-goers will get to experience the upcoming visual concept of its complementing live tour in Coachella’s incredible festival setting.
The Grammy-nominated artist, globally acclaimed DJ/producer and audio architect has teamed with a major award-winning festival stage designer and light artist who has worked with Muse and Kanye West to create a fascinating surrounding for the music, and its creation has been an international undertaking. Over the last few months, VAN DYK and his creative team tested various key elements of the new presentation all over the world, including a completely sold-out show at Terminal 5 in New York City, all of which will culminate at Coachella.
Said PAUL of EVOLUTION in a recent interview with Steven Lewis of BlackBookmag.com (2/17/11), “It's kind of a logical progression from what I've done in the past. The album is called Evolution, and for me it goes through those different phases of what evolution is, in a way. I don't have a production team that is doing the music for me—I'm actually making my music myself. As much as I experience it, as much as I grow and get more mature, the more my music grows with me. The music on this album is much more intense than before. This is something that's really special, and I believe it's definitely the best music I've done so far.”
“The other thing that's really important to me is the tour going along with the release of this album,” he adds. “I am working together with some amazing people; doing stage design and light design…I came to them with the idea of actually going through those different phases of evolution. These days you see a lot of DJs that are just touring with impressive video screens and stuff like that. I wanted something more; I wanted to actually have something that really emphasizes the evening.”
More details on the new PvD album will be announced soon.
